What’s a good but not great TV for two guest bedrooms?

Our friends and relatives are 30-70 years old, just want to watch a little TV. We are thinking $300-500 tops. This is for our second home in Florida.

We just got a LG C2 OLED for the living room, but we need not go that nuts for guest bedrooms.

Whatever LG or Samsung you like.

Note: Ease of use remote should be the real deciding factor imho.

I think we can get 50 inch QLEDs or similar for $350 by LG or Samsung.

The TVs in a guest room of a second home will age out of tech before they get a combined 200 hours on them.
Get the cheapest, easiest remote control things you can find IMO.

No need to spend that much!!

I've purchased a few Insignia brand smart TVs for my parents and they love them. You can get a 50 inch 4K Smart TV from them for like $250. They do everything someone would want in a guest bedroom television.

You should at least check what’s available at Costco. I bought 2 of the same kind, 65 inch Lg and at the time they had 3 year support and Installed a power bridge for each, no wires are visible and mounted perfectly
Good luck

I would get tcl 5 series or tcl 6 series. Especially the Roku version of the tv is incredibly easy to navigate (big squares on the Home Screen for live tv versus any streaming apps). You can upgrade the remote for $10 or $20 to be point-anywhere and have voice commands

At the price range you mentioned, TCL is better than Samsung or LG or Sony

The Black Friday sales for TV's are great. You'll make out like a bandit if you wait a couple weeks. And these days, you don't have to brave the crowds to do it.

I went for a dumb TV because I like those better. They are getting harder to find. I got an insignia from best buy for $159 42 inch- it's great.

Cheaper televisions all have pretty good pictures, but their speakers vary widely. Be sure to listen to them in the store. I have a 32-inch Samsung in my garage which has a great picture, but the speakers sound like a 1960s transistor radio in a tin can.

I have the Roku Ultra on every TV in my house. Same remotes, navigation screens, apps, etc. on all of them. Eliminates the remote and OS confusion with multiple brands.

This is what I’ve read on a few forums, also avoid TCL series 4 for some reason.

Vizio. Good enough for guests who will use it hardly ever.

The 4 series is dark (any sunlight will make it hard to watch) and can be laggy/slow.

After I got a 65 inch Sony A90J the other week (thank you for the thread which inspired that) I decided to keep my 50 inch TCL 5 series QLED. TCL is great for the price and even the $70 sound bar it came bundled with sounds decent. Of course it can’t compete with the $2500 Sony with an $800 soundbar, but I couldn’t bring myself to throw away a good TV.

Great choice, Congrats!!

Sony supposedly makes an excellent OLED TV. One of the main reasons I went with the LG was the differences in their stands.

I can’t even begin to remember the things I’ve purchased because of the threads I’ve read on this forum. Thing is it typically makes the research process much easier. They may not always give me all the information I’m looking for, but it generally makes it much easier to find the best option because that’s typically the one being talked about. On the rare occasion it isn’t it gives me a good head start on getting there.

if you're not getting 4k uhd in that room, skip OLED and get a QLED samsung.
The cheapest OLED will be a 42" LG OLED, but it's still about 900$... great for gaming or small rooms.

I think I will go LG LED 50 inches for $350. Thank you all for the many good ideas! My knowledge base has expanded.
