Intentionally not wearing your Rolex

I think it is wise to be cognizant of one's surroundings, and in keeping with this, of course there are times, neighborhoods and places where it's not safe to wear my watch - so I don't.

I will wear either a Rolex or a Breitling, but I won't wear what I consider a flashy model. I sometimes feel uncomfortable wearing too much bling.

There have been times where I have made a point not to wear a Rolex. For instance, if I find myself in a more "rustic" part of town. Sometimes I will not wear it if I have a repairman coming to the house. I'm just paranoid that if he sees me with an expensive watch on I'll get charged more. I'm sure some of this is silly but what goes through your minds.

I have an upcoming court date for a speeding ticket. My attorney said "Do not wear that -indicating my Sub- in court". I guess his finding is that, similar to the above rationale, judges tend to be less inclined toward (financial) sympathy if the defendant is wearing an expensive watch.

The thought crosses my mind from time to time, but not in regards to "rustic parts of towns" or my private life, but rather when meeting clients in my job... but I do not own (or even prefer) any of the diamond encrusted versions, so in general I wear what I'd like to wear.

I keep a "civil emergency" bag packed with a handgun & ammo, some energy bars, radio, flashlight, batteries and cash. I also keep a big ugly rubber-coated Luminox Watch in the bag. I don't want un-necessary attention if things get unpleasant.

I do too, except the only thing in my civil emergency bag is a Rolex, which I trade for all that other stuff.

You'd be surprised by how few people know what a Rolex is. And most of the ones who do will just assume you're wearing a fake.

I was in my local AD yesterday leaving some items for valuation. I noticed they had a Sony Bravia on the wall so I went over to peer closely at the black areas of the screen (because I'm slightly unhappy with my own new Bravia). Anyway, a Rolex DVD happened to be playing, and the saleswoman went 'oh those watches are lovely, they're by Rolex, they're a well-known brand'. The fact I was wearing one went completely unnoticed.

Lets be candid about this:
If your getting mugged and they want your watch, then they will take it irespective of brand. They are only looking to pawnit for their next hit. So I doubt these vagabonds are "Brand Specific"

Only when I was skydiving did I take it off. Sometimes it got pretty crazy up there and it could snag a line or just come flying off. But there was this other time, at Band Camp...

One of the few reasons I sold my 116713 was because of flash and fear. I have gone to a 16610LV hoping that people will think its a toy watch.

wow...i am lucky...i can wear my rolex anywhere in my country....no problems at all...

I won't wear it traveling internationally, mainly because I have a fear that a crooked customs agent might "confiscate", plus if I am exploring somewhere unfamiliar, I don't want to be worrying about a watch. I have struggled with this, and it is one of my issues with Rolex, that they are now so expensive that they can't be worn like they use to be.

I have an Invicta 8926 that I will wear, or sometimes I will wear a 1964 Omega dress watch. I could probably wear the Omega in the worst neighborhood in New York without anyone batting an eye. Though I have a 14060M, which is probably not as much of an issue as a YYDD, or something like that.

I wear mine anywhere doesn't matter to me because my body guard glock helps me if i have a problem oh yea i have insurance so i don't worry because i bought my sub to wear.

I think that a lot of people cannot distinguish a rolex from a timex.. so no problem

It is depending on the rolex. if it is a nd sub like mine, i do not think you have problems.. but if it is a golden one...

hehehe..Singapore is safe..esp wearing rolex...i was strolling home from town after a nite of boozing with no issue....it was 4am in the morning btw...
