That’s a very well curated Rolex collection. I personally wouldn’t do it as I love both and AP doesn’t sing to me.

But YMMV

I'd do it. I have had all of them. I only have an AP RO chrono now of them.

Yeah you make a great point. The addition of a 15550 37mm ice blue dial would be my first choice but impossible as a first watch from AP.

Definitely feel great full for the Rolex collection I have currently. AP feels like the next step forward, but taking a step back and maybe just waiting for funds to acquire an AP is probably the right choice.

It would be tempting to stick as you have an awesome collection, but if you really want to scratch the AP itch -

I would either trade the Daytona + cash for the AP

or

failing that look to maybe trade the LV + more cash for the AP

I couldn’t do both the LV and BLRO as like them both too much. On a side note, if I ever get an olive DD I’m done!
On paper doesn’t feel too bad letting the pieces go for an AP but I have a feeling they will be missed after a few months. Hoping 2023 is the year of the Day date for you. Good luck!

Glad to hear the AP is your favorite. Seems like a tall task to get the Pepsi and Cermit back after but might be the lesser of 2 evils. Haha.

Personally, I like to be more free wearing my watches so they were all sold and I was back to Rolex.
Amazing pieces and collecting journey. Hearing multiple AP owners selling and enjoying Rolex more is good insight. Might need to find out the hard way first. Haha.

Interested to hear which route you chose… this one’s the toughest trade I’ve seen.

That said, I’d do it (build AP relationship, can always jump into the Rolexes you want later)

I've often dabbled with the ideas of selling off my watches to upgrade to an AP but I've always decided to keep what I have. I'd rather have a variety rather than being stuck with one watch. However, there are people out there who are rather happy with their one watch. I think you'll always lust after another.

Very tempting but I’d stick with what you have and add down the road. I’d consider what you have a quintessential Rolex foursome.

No to the trade; the AP Chrono does nothing for me just like the Rolex chrono.

I'd keep the sub and GMT. The movement in the AP chrono isn't stellar. I'd maybe consider it if it was the AP jumbo. Any chance you can switch your request?

Do you think you can realistically buy an Ap at retail?

I wouldn’t. I would keep what you have. Great couple watches that are durable and versatile. That AP overall design like Rolex has been around for some time. If it’s your dream step forwards just save and add

I might not sell both of them, would probably add cash to one of them. Generally, I don't think it is worth it.

My AP carbon Chrono has been back to AP several times over the last 5 years.
My friends identical watch has spent more time at AP service than his wrist.
So agreed, AP's chrono movements leave a lot to be desired.

Zero problems with any of my Daytona's by the way.

I’ve had two of the new movements go back for service already!
Still love the watches, but always a reminder of like when you move on from a Porsche it another exotic car and how often that car is in maintiance!

I have had several RO Chronos and sold them all. I could never get over how uncomfortable they were…for me. I tried half links and in the summer my wrist swells so much and there is no on the fly adjustment on the bracelet, this is a must have for me. It is an incredible watch but comfort is paramount for me. If you find it comfortable then I say go for it!
