Need some advice :: ROC offered - would you take it or wait for the right dial?for

Hey all,

Need some advice : I've been offered a 26715 that I had put on my list a few months ago for my wife. Unfortunately it's not the dial she wanted and it has diamonds on the bezel...

I am wondering whether to take it in any case and see if she likes it in due time or whether to politely decline and wait for the other one.

Not sure if this is a further sign of market softening or my awesome SA being kind (he is great to deal with), but I've now been offered two watches -one for me, one for her - that I am tempted to decline because they're not the dial config I was looking for...

Thoughts?

Never buy a watch you don't want. Especially a ladies watch you're going to get hurt moving if she can't learn to love it. He will respect you for being honest.

I think 26715ST with the diamonds on the bezel has ice blue dial which is gorgeous and the most sought after. I think most ladies would love it. If your wife doesn't like it, don't take it, better wait for her first choice.

Is this model for lady? I think it seems too big for most ladies.

For Rolex diamond bezel is unisex but I don't understand why for AP, diamond bezel seems like for lady only.

So you’re saying that it also has a diamond bezel, which is not what you/she wanted, correct? Especially for a lady’s watch, do not buy other than the exact configuration you/she wants.

Yeah correct she’s not really into diamond bezels... Which is why I am surprised that my SA even offered it.

FYI it's a full rose gold ROC as well, so it's not exactly chump change (at least for me).

Guess I wonder if this happened to more folks that some watches are starting to be shopped around more. In any case I think I have my answer... Don't immediately love it, don't buy it. Just hope it doesn't ruin things by rejecting two watches in a row (even if they're not the exact ones requested)

If your intuition is to pass, I think that's always the right call for this price range.

If it was steel and diamonds...maybe wife takes one for the team so you can get what you really want! Ha!

It does seem like as you observed they are having to shop pieces around a bit more deeper into the list (and ultimately still selling within 48 hours).

I hear you. Definitely not chump change, especially being full rose gold. But that has been my experience too lately regarding a lady’s piece. I realize it’s better for the boutique to make the diamond bezel sales, but my wife wouldn’t be able to wear it as regularly as she’d like since those pieces are impressively bling bling. So we/she’s declined, and the boutique is understanding. I’m confident the boutique isn’t holding that against you at all.

Pass on it and wait. RO prices are going down in secondary market more than Nautilus or Daytona. This will soften demand for boutique allocations as there is no longer an incentive to flip. Just be patient for the one you want

I’d personally be honest and say it’s not the one she wants and you’d rather wait. Couldn’t se myself spending that sort of money on something I wasn’t totally sure on.

Out of interest what colour dial is it? Just had a look and seems like there’s a silver and purple dial. Both look lovely.

This is the ice blue dial/steel or white dial/pink gold? After seeing it in person, ice blue/diamond bezel went to the top of my wife's wishlist, ahead of any of the other 38mm ROC.

edit: nm, should have read the whole thread before replying to the first post. I would probably decline the white dial. AP RG goes much better with the darker dial colors, IMO.

You did the right thing. The market is softening and I'm sure you're not the only one passing on these pieces, it's just the new norm for SA.
