Submariner no date (new 41MM)

Hi guys,

Finally got my submariner no date (41mm, 124060) and i noticed that when i do a manual winding, it is surprisingly easy (not much resistance) and smooth

My TUDOR Black Bay Chrono is very very tough to wind ( a lot of resistance) in comparison,

Is this normal or did i get a lemon?

yes from AD in OSAKA, Japan, everything is good, just the winding resistance is very light , compared to my tudors (tudor black bay chrono is much harder to wind) - want to know if this is normal?

The winding experience on the new 32** movements is different from what you might be used to. Also, the Tudor movements are completely different, so you shouldn't compare the two. You may compare your piece to the same reference if your AD has one on hand. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry too much about it as long as it is keeping accurate time

Try this: place the watch to your ear and start winding. You'll hear a scratchy sound until it's fully wound, at which point it will make a weird clicking sound. That’s the nature of all 32** movements

A Submariner by definition is a "no date".
The modified B01 from Tudor is a brute to hand wind.

Yes the TUDOR was giving a lot of resistance to wind,

my other (entry level) watches seem to be relatively easy to wind too (Seiko , Tissot, Hamilton) - this is my first Rolex so i didn't know what to expect, glad to hear that its normal - it is buttery smooth and easy to wind, so i was actually worried if that's not normal haha

I owned 2 Tudor BB Chronos - both were pretty rough to handwind. My 3235 is much smoother, but 3285 even more so.

Congrats! How did you manage to get a Submariner from an AD in Japan(Osaka)? How long was the wait?

Congratulations, it’s a great reference.

I own the 114060 and the 124060. The winding of the 31 series movement is much smoother than the 32

FYI my 124060 is smooth and not much resistance until it gets near fully wound, then I feel the resistance.

Congrats on your new sub. I got mine recently too and haven’t manually wound it since the SA did it for me at the shop. It has not left my wrist since :)

I don't think there is an issue. I had the same experience when I got my Sub. The 32 series movements are very smooth when compared to the very loud mechanical sound of winding many Tudors.

I didn’t wait - went to every single Rolex AD I can find and kept going and going and going - some required I make appointment 2 weeks in advance but some let me in, with some luck and persistence I finally obtained a sub no date!

Thanks - I wanted a Pepsi but I was told I’m dreaming coz some people waited years for them - I will keep looking!

I already got the sub so next is a Pepsi and then perhaps if I can find one, an oyster perpetual in green dial

You’ll love the BLRO I’ve had mine for almost 2 yrs now and I still smile every time it gets a turn on the wrist. Good luck hope this is your year ;)

Yes, it's just called the Submariner. The other model is the "SubmarinerDate."

Congratulations in your new watch. It's a classic and it's superior in every way to the Tudor. I have a red black bay tudor that I got from an AD long time ago and from day one the winding clicks every time I turn the crown. I never took it back for review when it was under warranty since it does not affect the watch winding but is not a pleasant feeling. I had never problems with any of my Rolexes I have gotten over the years. Despite all my fellow forum members can say, submariner can be called sub no date (submariner ND or ND dub) too. To me, the submariner date is the classic sub.

I have the exact same issue with the Pelagos 2-liner. Never took it back as it keeps great time. Assuming it's a common issue with the ETA movements. Tbh it doesn't bother me :)

As for the no date. Just an awesome watch. You can't get better.
