Got the call, but

Many years ago I got on a list for 126710BLRO, I was desperate to get a Pepsi at the time, and it was right at the start of the extended waitlist madness. Fast forward a couple of years, and I picked up a 16710, content with it hitting the spot, I totally forgot about being on a list. A couple of years on again, and without any contact, I’ve got the call from the AD that there’s a 126710blro for me.

I’m aware of the grey market premium and whilst I would not want to flip it right away, the fact that I could enjoy it for a year or so and sell it on at a profit is on my mind if I’m being honest.

I would remember something as significant as being on the list for a BLRO!

I would buy it, wear it, enjoy the hell out of it and if applicable after a year or several, sell the one I liked the least if I could bear to part with it.

The 126710BLRO is nothing like your 16. You potentially have two of the best Rolex Rolex have produced.

To be honest it was so long ago and after first couple years I gave up hope there was really even a list - thanks for the comment though, this is what I was thinking

It’s such a different watch that I would buy it.
You might like it even more than your 16710, nice to have options

I'd buy it and enjoy it. Great pairing with it's older sibling and one of the finest modern day references going.

I agree with this OP ^^^

If you’re in a position to buy it, I’d go ahead. Worst case you can always move it along if you find it redundant

I would buy the watch, wear it and enjoy it. The BLRO is a great reference and one you may find being a real go to watch. What is the down side of buying it? If it does not work you can move it along. I enjoy mine.

I am of the theory that if you want it then buy it, after all you did the right thing and got on the list for a watch you really wanted. However if you are going to buy it to just flip it then I say let the next person in line get it. That is my my humble opinion

It’s a definite buy. Wear it, admire it, enjoy it. If the time comes where it needs to have a new home then send it on it’s way.

At least your being honest. For so many people the allure of the resale profit is just too much to keep the watch and off it goes to the used market. I would tell you to buy the watch and you may find you love it and will keep it long term. No guarantee, if you pass, that the next buyer on the list will not just buy the watch to quickly flip it. Do you and what makes you happy.

If you have the money, buy it. Currently you can't lose a cent on that piece.

If there is any Rolex to buy its a BLRO. I have the entire GMT lineup and if my AD offered me another BLRO I would buy it. Aside from the Daytona, the BLRO is the only Rolex I would have several of.

Guess what, Patek discontinued the Nautilus (5711) and I missed out on a great watch I could have had at MSRP.

Buy it. It’s definitely one of the best out there. Much better than the older reference (IMHO). You’ll love it. And if you don’t, it’s great currency to trade towards something else.

You've got to buy it. If not for yourself, do it for us.

On a serious note, it's a terrific piece, and I'd take every opportunity to add it to my collection. Could totally co-exist with your 16710.

Congratulations in advance.
