36mm Day-date felt Small

Hey all,

After getting a lot of help from people on here (one who has been particularly insightful despite my indecision), I went ahead and tried on another DD 118238 after thinking that I was going to pull the trigger once I found one for a great price. After my jeweler let me try on a 18238 and a 118238, I didn’t think “wow!” I tried them on before, but this was the first time I was in a store that had multiple full body mirrors. After looking at myself and taking multiple pictures and videos (figuring if I’m about to drop 22k this thing better look great), I couldn’t help but feel that it looked small on me. I know my wrist is small, but I didn’t consider the size of my forearms and bis/tris which are pretty big. Overall, it just appears too small on me in comparison to a 41mm. I wasn’t too impressed. Do you guys agree? And if so, any other idea on what watch I should now look for? I’d obviously love a DD 40, but that’s way out of my budget now… I love the look of yellow gold, and it matches all my other Jewlery, but I’m at a cross roads..

I uploaded a pic with 41mm DJ for comparison and it seems that fit my overal body better…

That 36MM doesn’t look small to me. A yellow gold watch wears big and loud in my opinion.

Your wrist is pretty big, looks like 7” ish?
Then 36mm is too small, especially all yellow gold tone makes the watch seems even smaller. Why not get a 40mm?

It’s under 7.. like 6.8, but bigger forearms..

Your forearms look pretty substantial, making the wrist look more than 7”
I have 6.3 “ wrist and 36mm looks right on me.
I think you definitely need 40mm

i think it looks fine in the 1st and 3rd pic. it looks small in the 2nd pic but that's because it's a selfie and you're holding your arm up i think. it's just distorted

the 41 looks big in the pic where you only show your wrist but probably looks fine from a third person pov. this is why the best pics are ones with various different angles in front of a mirror

the 36 fits your wrist much better but i think you can pull off both sizes tbh

Seriously, if you think that is too small for you, perhaps you should be in the market for an Invicta. Accept no substitutes.

I own both 36 and 40 Day-Dates, I had my 36 for a few decades and never thought it was small, since I got into my 40 Day-Dates, I don't wear my 36 much, but again, I think it looks good on my wrist. Looking at the 36 on you, I don't think it looks underwhelming, I think it looks like a good fit, but the reality is it's hard to tell from the pics. I think the 36 is a great stepping stone, do your due diligence and buy it right. Good luck, looking forward to your new incoming, and joining the Day-Date Club!!

I think the 36mm in YG is great for you. It’s got a lot of wrist presence bc it’s gold, but also bc of the polished lugs on the 6-digit model, fluted bezel, etc. Great watch.

My recco is if you feel self-conscious about the size, don’t buy it, but if you’re good with it, go for it. If you’re not comfortable, it would be a waste of $.

Thanks guys. From other angles it looks fine, just some angles it looks small, here’s another pic but I appreciate the input

To each his own I’m old school, and extremely resistant to change, 36 is it! To me the larger versions just don’t look right

Size looks fine to me; it's the DJ41 that looks oversized.

Stupid as this may sound, perhaps try it on with a less loud shirt? Few things can drown out the presence of a solid YG watch, but a purple shirt is among them.

it sucks being in between sizes but i think the 36 looks perfect on all the pics you have of just your wrist. with this kind of watch it's always better to be on the smaller side anyway, rather than wearing one that looks too big. it's a loud watch as is and the highlight should be the bracelet instead of a dinner plate on your wrist. don't think you'll regret it but maybe it'll just take a bit of time for you to get used to the size if you're used to wearing bigger watches. if you only showed pics of your wrist i would instantly say the dj41 is too big

41 looks too big. 36 is good.

Maybe look into Daytona, which sits in between.

It’s supposed to look smaller than a dive watch. It looks very correct on your wrist. You’re in the sweet spot.

I agree, it does look rather small because 36mm is a girls watch

36mm Day-date felt Small

In your situation you really have to go with your gut feeling. If you feel the 36 is too small, the worst thing you can do is purchase it and have regrets. Spending 22k is no joke on something you’re unsure of.

I have a 6.25 inch wrist and wear the 40mm. Like yourself, when I looked in the mirror with the 36, it just didn’t look right. My wife and the AD also agreed despite my small wrists. In the end I chose the 40 and have never looked back.

36 looks good, but if you are not 100% happy with it I would pass. As the DD 40mm is not in your budget I personally think you would be happier with a TT watch that you like the size of, rather than a 36mm that you are not so sure of.

I have both a 41mm TT blue submariner and a 36mm YG DD (albeit a 18038).

Edit, that said, looking a the pics again the 36mm definitely fits better than the 41mm, hard to say as the last 2 pics looks like an entirely different wrist than the first two, which is often the way when zoomed in.

Nothing wrong with the 36….. I have big wrists and I wear a 36mm DD. Looks fine on you. The 41 IMO is not proportional
