Just can't bond with my 126610ln!?
Good evening,
I'm just wondering could I get some advice on my plans in getting rid of the 126610ln.? Since the owning this watch I personally don't feel it wears as comfortable as the 116610ln I have previously owned. I would like to sell this model and aquire the 116610ln if possible in unworn or as new condition. Would I be better trying to sell my current sub and then purchase the 11 series.? Or would you feel a straight swap would make more sense.? Looking at prices currently both watches appear to be similarly priced. I'm based in Northern Ireland so if a.anyone would have an interest or could even recommend any dealers that could help with the above it would really help me out. Thank you |

What size is your wrist? 126 I assume, should be more comfortable regardless though.
Did you purchase the 126 new from an AD? |

I sold my 126610 because I didn't like the thickness. if I were to do it again it would be 16610

I have always thought this, but besides the boxy case, the 116610 is a very nice size. Everything was near perfect, they should not have changed it.
At any rate- I cant stop recommending the now discontinued SD4K.... perfection |

I think 12s are worth a little more, so I wouldn't do a straight swap.

Here’s all 3 most recent.
16610, 116, 126. Honestly can’t tell that much difference in appearance. But the way they wear is largely apparent. Clasp is YUUGe on 126_ _ _! Far prefer the 116610LN (with the 3135). |

The 126610 wears perfectly imo. Slimmer lugs, the Clasp is a little thick yes but doesn’t bother me in the least.

Is this a very thinly veiled offer to sell? I bet you have some DM offerings. That's very slick of you to hack the system

You won’t have any problem with that, that is for sure. 12 is much more popular. I had the 11 and could not stand the look of the lugs. They both wore similar, but the 12 is more balanced on my wrist. The small bracelet look I could never got back to.

We all have different likes and dislikes, if that watch is not for you, then by all means get the one that is and enjoy!

If you like the 11 series better go for it, there is no wrong choice.
Selling as a private person can be a can of worms and I would do a trade with a dealer only. Plenty reliable dealers in the UK. Personally I prefer the 11 series model as well and it has the better movement.

I can understand the sentiment. Most Rolex watches are thick (thinner than the masses, but thicker than more high end offerings).
My discovery was to find out the Rolexes I have are pretty from a few angles only. A RO is beautiful from any point of view, a Sub is not really at its best form 3/4 angle. |

Not too much of a difference price wise. I'd reach out to one of the trusted sellers to see what they can do. Would make it a smooth and easy transition.

Prefer the 126 over the 116 as dislike the fat lugs / super case but if you like it go for it

I'm not sure which chains you have over in Norn Irn, but if it's similar to here then have a wander down to your local Watches of Switzerland and have a word. They trade in used pieces and if they can't help, they should be able to steer you in the right direction. Failing that, as Travis said above, try one of the trusted sellers. It doesn't sound ideal to us with most of them being in the States but they can still help. Personally, I found DavidSW very helpful but he's the only one I've spoken with. Shoot one of them an email and go from there. As for the watch itself, I didn't bond with my BLNR abut eight years ago. Two years further down the road, I moved it on and bought my YM and never looked back. If it doesn't make you happy, then move it on and find something that will and let someone else love your 12. Good luck.

For me, with the exception of the Hulk due to its Dial, the 116610’s dimensions are hideous looking and wearing in comparison to any other Past or Present iterations of the Sub! |

People are just caught in the new reference Sub thing. Higher power reserve is not that important for most people, but the big clasp and bracelet are not proportionate to new case which does matter. Older model was more proportional and nicer with smaller clasp, not to mention old proven and reliable movement. If people want a bulky watch they should go with an SD43 which is a better diver. |

Just can't bond with my 126610ln!?
I have owned several 116610LN's and two 126610LN's over the years. I don't own either right now and would tend to agree with you that the 116610LN wears better, at least for me and I have considered looking for one, but finding a bnib one is the issue and the cost.
I got over the "blocky" appearance of the 116610LN case as time passed and found that it was much more comfortable to wear than the 126610LN even though the 126610LN aesthetically looked better. I attributed the wear issue that I experienced with the 126610LN to the gigantic clasp and the link dimensions of the bracelet. I just could not get a perfect fit and the clasp size was the icing on the cake. |

I don't think you'll have a problem finding someone in the UK willing to trade his 116610LN for your 126610LN. Good luck.
Funnily enough, I never liked the 116610LN and skipped that gen completely (ND and Hulk when the opportunity arised). However, these days, I see the charm of the stocky supercase. Go figure. |

I bought myv126610LN last year. The clasp looked a little bigger than I would like it to be. The fit was by no means bad but I always wanted the watch to sit a little bit flatter on the wrist. Although it optically tricks one into thinking it wears smaller, it is one chunky watch. Or should I say VERY robust.
Over the past several months I'd been toying with the idea of acquiring again a GMT. I had owned a 116710LN and a Tudor GMT, if one wonders where I'm coming from. After seeing and trying on several 16710s I had my eureka moment. Turns out the 5 digit case, paired with the SEL bracelet was what I had been looking for, all along. A 16710BLRO has replaced the Sub41 and my DJ41 and I'm a one (and very happy) watch guy, for now... Next possible Sub acquisition would be a matte dial 16800 from 1984, in the right condition, at the right price. Now that I've crossed the line of purchasing preowned, I think I'm done with the super case. So maybe, just maybe, you should consider a 5 digit reference or the 40mm SD 4k? Just throwing the idea out there for your consideration, OP.

I actually think the Rolex 126610ln is a fine watch, I wonder why you don’t like it. I’d definitely want this in my collection.

I honestly don't find there to be that much of a difference between the two in terms of looks and how they wear, and I really don't understand loving one and disliking the other, but you could probably find someone willing to make a straight up trade. They may want slightly more if their 11 is effectively unworn and your 12 is worn.
