Question!

So, this is my first post, but I have made a purchase from the boards. I bought a TT black 16613 for my 30th birthday. My 30th is not until November, so maybe I can upgrade? I love it more than anything, and I know this question has been beaten to death (I have searched the topic) but would it be frowned upon if I purchased an OEM serti dial and OEM blue bezel insert? Would the value increase/decrease, would RSC work on the watch? Would it be most wise to buy from the same serial? To me it would be like having two awesome watches whenever I wanted, and I am interested to know the absolute purists thoughts on this.

Thanks for the info.

Doesn't matter to Rolex it's not original to the watch serial number which tells them what was on it when sold new. Sorry Rik

I would have no problem doing that.

If you need to send your watch to Rolex for service just change back.

Welcome to the forum..

I'm not saying don't do it, you asked what Rolex would do, if you like the combo knock yourself out just don't send it to Rolex unless you change it back. Rik

Thank you for the welcome!

So I understand RSC is not particularly ok with this, but it would be considered ok by purists? Not "Frankenwatch"?

Hey pal, it's your watch, do what ever pleases you.

I've done it numerous times and couldn't care less what anyone else says.

Well there's purists then there's purists haven't quite figured tha one out yet hehe. I don't believe there's any documentation available to the collector that would tell them what the rowatch originally had on it form the factory except maybe the papers that it came with. So no one really knows what's what anyway except Rolex. In the past you could buy from Rolex many dials for your watch if you wanted as long as it fit the movement and case they would sell it, thoses days are long gone. When I worked in a Rolex dealership back in the 80's I could buy anything from Rolex dials bands you name it but I think they saw the product getting watered down and decided to stop that practice and it's a good thing because it keeps the value of your watches higher than any other mas produced watch in the world. So it was the right move I think. Rik tghe watchmaker

Welcome!

I wanted a stainless steel Rolex and I wanted diamonds on the face and on the bezel. Rolex doesn't make this combination, so I purchased an aftermarket diamond bezel. I saved my fluted bezel and my AD has no problem putting the watch back to rights if I need service from Rolex.

It's your watch, fix it up how you like it and if you have to send it in, just have the dealer put it back the way you bought it.

Who cares if anyone else likes it! It is just a watch, look what people do to their cars. My cars cost a whole lot more than my watch :) and I put chrome emblems on my Viper. My Viper friends haven't banished me yet :)

Great looking watch.

Now start the hunt for a serti dial and a bezel insert.

Thanks bud! My cars cost alot more than my watch as well and I have no problem "fixing" them up, but my watch I consider a little more intimate. I just wanted to get a general feel on the subject. Bottom line is no one is going to know the serial on my watch, it is what it is! I am going to go ahead and pull the trigger on the serti dial and blue bezel!

Thanks!

I think that the TT black is one of the finest watches Rolex has ever made..

It would be a shame to do that to an exceptional, traditional time-piece..

Why not just sell it to somebody who really loves that watch and get yourself a Serti model........
