FWIW, I never see the dial issues with the 40, to me it looks perfect. I guess YMMV

I think either one actually looks good. Pick whichever one you like best.

36 looks better and more correct, in my opinion. If you want a 40mm model perhaps try the new sub at 41mm. A time only watch with non-functioning bezel becomes too overpowering when its that large.

Thanks for all the responses... I decided to go with the 40mm so put in the order for that. Hopefully it comes in soon!

I just got notification that a 40mm is waiting for me at my AD so will go check it out tomorrow afternoon. I am aiming for the explorer to be the counterpart to my white OP 39mm, a stealthy and elegant black dial watch for every occasion that has something to differentiate it from the rest of my collection.

Picked up the 40mm today and I really like it, it's basically the same size as an OP39mm with a thicker and fancier band and a slightly chunkier vibe. My first ever "proper watch" was a Longines Hydroconquest which basically ripped off the numerals from the Explorer, so I am really happy to have the design back on the 'original' watch, it's so clean and understated.

It wears really well on my 7" wrist and I am soooo happy I didn't get the 36mm version as it would just be way too small and would look odd.

I purchased a 36 last year, never saw one in person and never tried one on for size. Like many, I based my purchase in youtube/internet review and hype. I am also average build and height with 6.75" wrist size so it should be fine right? Nope, it looked tiny, I mean REALLY tiny! I wore it for many weeks trying to get accustomed to it. Then, i stopped wearing it and it was relegated to the watch box. The reasons I did not gel with it are in line with everyone else. Dial markers too small to read, dainty appearing, too much bracelet taper, even the wife said it looked small and she likes everything! I sold it and have zero regrets. I would go 39 or 40 if I were you.

I had this internal debate for quite some time and went with the 40 and have been very happy. The watch has not been off my wrist in the months since purchase and it has been great. I have a larger build at 6' and a just under 7" wrist - share the sentiment that the 36 although a beautiful watch, was just a bit too small.

Its funny that there are so many die hard 36 fanatics (which I totally get) that bash the proportions of the 40 - yet photos I have shared on other forums folks are unable to tell if its 36 or 40 on my wrist :) .

Enjoy the beautiful watch!

I have now have the 40mm for a few months and it is getting a lot of wrist time because it's just so damn elegant and understated. It oozes class without being bling.

If i were only going to have one watch then this would be a strong candidate for being it.

Also, the 36mm just look s odd on 7"+ wrists.

Icon14 No right answer

There is no right answer to this question. Only you can answer, end of the day how do you feel it on wrist, do you like the looks? 36mm - I love how comfy it wears and looks
