Thoughts on Explorer 14270 polishing?
Too much?

Too much is always subjective. Need to see crown on the clasp. It’s definitely been polished.

Fair enough...too much for your subjective preferences?

That said, it is too much for me personally. That said though, if the price is right, the price is right.

Most watches have had a polish at some point in their history what it comes down to is can you live with it for the asking price? And only you can decide that

The problem is that it feels wrong. It’s not the OG finishing. So in effect it kinda gives uncanny valley vibes.

This is somewhere between 30 and 26 years old watch, I would expect some polishing especially on an entry level sports model. If the price is adjected to reflect this, then game on. Wear it and enjoy it looks great.

I’m not as familiar with how the case of this reference should look, but overall appears to be a lovely example with tritium dial. The crown on the clasp may be a little soft on the edges but it’s also a very old piece.

It looks good to me and still fairly crisp at the edges. Better than my A serial 14270. I say go for it and try to get it for $4,750. Really great watch overall.
