Greg, don't feel bad. I've been without a Rolex since 2002. I had to sell it to help my parents out with finances. Since then, MANY things have come up in my personal life, and getting a Rolex now would not be the right choice for me to do. So, I recently just bought a less expensive watch to "hold me over" untill I can get a Sub. again.
Don't worry, you did the right thing, family ALWAYS come first IMO.

Hope things get better but you have your priorities in order. I had a similar decision to make recently and the watch I thought I would not get rid of, again, had to go.

Great choice of watch to keep though - that Breguet is probably still my ultimate grail. Love it.

Darn right. $110,000 in student loan debt, more to come. I've seen my bank account read single digits. My "expensive" watch is a $100 Invicta, though I'm eyeing an Alpha Milsub homage as a reward for surviving my OB rotation.

Material things are temporary. Of all I own, nearly all of it is movable, if need be. The bits that aren't?

A century-old penknife that was my great-great-grandfather's. I swore to my grandfather it would stay in the family.
My wedding ring. It may be simple silver, but it means the world.
Last, my Masonic ring. Base ring was my father's, inlaid into the sides are lapel pins from my grandfather and great-grandfather.

Those pieces stay. The rest can go- it all pales in comparison.
