If you smoke a lot then you're definitely not helping your body to fight off things. I'm not going to tell you to quit, but you might try cutting back and see how that helps. If I was getting sick that regularly, my quality of life would definitely go downhill fast. I think the last time I remember getting sick enough to have to go to a doctor was around 18 years ago. Your immune system is compromised and you are going to have to turn it around both mentally and physically. Don't worry, you're naturally prone to wellness so you just have to re-align yourself to help your body do this. Pay attention to your nutrition, exercise and remove those things that you feel are making you feel bad. If you don't see improvement, you might have to get advice from a doctor.

Whatever else you do, get checked by a doctor. Maybe there's something in your environment making you sick... possibly an allergic reation to something?

Best of luck!

I would look for a real DR. Someone that will spend some time with you and try to find out whats going on.Have you had blood work done etc?Its hard to find a good DR. These days most are overloaded and in a hurry to go to the next room.

QUIT SMOKING! You have no idea how big an effect those things have on you until you quit and experience life without cigs... and this from a long time smoker before I quit. I recommend the patch... for the "vivid dreams".

How about finding a good nurse practitioner? I work in an ENT practice and I only see 4 patients per hour, so that I have time to actually spend with my patients....

Seriously, find yourself a good doctor or physician assistant or nurse practitioner. I am not knocking men or doctors, but female providers seem to do a good job of listening, at least I think so and my patients seem happy

As far as your symptoms, this could be allergies, even undiagnosed asthma or reactive airway disease. The smoking doesn't help. You need someone to take a good history. You also should write down your symptoms and how often you have been sick. This will help when you go and see a provider.

Hi Chris,

Sorry to hear the ya under the weather man!

I'll give you a head up on the smoking, I gave up two weeks ago now :-) first thing I noticed is the breathing, sinuses are the clearest that I remember, and I've been hit with the flue as of Thursday just past, everyone else got hit hard, I had the tickle in the throat then it went away, I don't know if having a system that cleaning itself out has helped but I feel a million bucks.

I'm also on a bit of a health kick too, watching the coffee intake, no high sugary drinks and junkfood.

might need to give your immune system a bit of a reboot :-)

Wash your hands.
x2.....

This is the best advise.

Most acute illnesses are viral, transmitted via hand to face (mouth, eyes)

Don't touch your face without washing your hands with soap thoroughly first.

You will significantly reduce the number of viral infections you have per year.

And quit smoking (obviously) .....
