Concern About Date Change on My New Yacht-Master RLX Titanium (226627)

Hello everyone,
This is my first post here, and I’m hoping to get some guidance.

I recently bought a Yacht-Master RLX Titanium (226627) from a grey dealer (not an AD). (Yes, I paid a hefty premium—but honestly, I love the watch, and it checks all my boxes. This is my first Rolex and probably my last—it's the one for life for me!)

After getting the watch, I started watching some videos about its movement. That’s when I noticed something odd: when I manually advance the time, the date doesn’t consistently change at exactly 00:00. Sometimes it switches at around 23:59 instead.

This got me a bit worried. From what I’ve heard, Rolex movements are usually spot-on with these things, so now I’m questioning whether this is normal or if there’s something wrong with the watch. Since I purchased it through Chrono24 from a shop seller (it came as a full set and brand new and with some stickers on it), I’m also wondering if I should be concerned about its authenticity.

Here are my questions, separated for clarity:

Is it normal for the date to occasionally change slightly before 00:00 when adjusting manually?

Should I consider sending it for a check or service, or am I overthinking this? (The watch is just a few months old according to the card.)

For these two, I’d love to hear your input regardless of the following concerns.

Is this something that could indicate the watch is fake?

What’s the best way to verify its authenticity?

I might be overreacting, but I’d love to hear from more experienced collectors here. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Normal. That can also be adjusted if it bothers you that much when it gets serviced.

Very normal and changes within what I would consider acceptable. These are mechanical masterpieces and some minor idiosyncrasies are to be accepted. Rolex can easily adjust that date flip at its first routine service. It is such a easy fix that it’s not worth even thinking about it again OP.

Your digital cell phone may change over at exactly midnight. An analog, mechanical watch with interworking gears, pinions, and rods will seldom ever be able to be set so precisely.

Long as it isn't changing around noon, you're OK.

Congrats and welcome to the forum! Totally normal as others have said. My DSSD James Cameron changes about 6 mins after the turn of the day, and my GMT master 2 changes about 3 mins after. My wife’s Datejust is actually the closest at about 90 seconds after, but none of them change right on the dot at midnight.

Are you loving the YM Titanium so far otherwise?

On some watches changes can happen even 5 mins after the day. This is totally normal.

Thanks a lot for all the replies and the warm welcome!

I’m loving the watch—perfect weight, amazing colors, and the stealthy vibe is exactly what I was looking for. It’s everything I hoped for, and I couldn’t be happier.

Congratulations on your new Rolex wear it in good health but some of you guys just worry to much about your watches in general, but its not a major fault or life threatening in any way. As long as it changes by next morning and you can see its changed, now that's far more important it proves you are alive for another day. Now most all dates on Rolex watches change a little before some a bit after midnight. The date can only change when the hour hand has made two complete 12 hour revolutions around the dial, its purely mechanical and not electronic like flicking a switch.

Sounds like no matter what the outcome is, which your date changing is off slightly….you may as well send it to a RSC and get that adjusted. At the same time, they will refuse the watch if it’s fake. No reason to live in doubt. Just send it to the service center

I have the same movement in YM WG on oysterflex. Does similar with the date advance.
I adore the watch but the movement is the worst performer of all my watches.
Has literally NO impact on my desire to wear it!

It's not uncommon for Rolex movements to have slight variations in the date change timing, especially when manually advancing the time.

My Sea Dweller doesn't change over until nearly 9 minutes after midnight. Do I think this is unacceptable? Yes. Do I intend to do anything about it? Nope, because I'm only awake at that time about twice a year.

When the day comes for it's first service (and I'm years away), I'll mention it to the RSC.
