Running Shoes Recommendation

Any runner in the house? Thinking about going active and start running again like I use to when I was in the Navy! So many shoes to pick on but cannot really tell which one is the best for running Any recommendations, guys and gals?

I've been running since High School and I love it!

I suggest New Balance. They provide good support and are very comfortable to run in. They also have shoes that accommodate wider feet (perfect for me).

Your main concern would be to get a pair that fits you well. Perhaps you should go to a store that specializes in running shoes, with real runners managing the store. These experts can help you find the perfect shoe thats just right for you. Initially you pay more for the shoe, but its well worth it in the long haul to own a shoe that will keep you more injury free.

I usually go for the Nike range. But like C. Davidson suggested, go to the store and try them on. Fitting and comfortable is my priority.

I actually have pretty flat feet so went to a podiatrist and got in soles and recommendations - Asics were what he suggested and they are a fantastic running shoe

I've used Asics for years and years, and like them a lot.

The last pair I bought, at the suggestion of the running store dude, was Brooks. I didn't like the way the look, but damn if they are not one of the most comfortable running shoes I've worn in a LONGGGG time.

I also had a pair of Mizuno Wave Runner shoes that I liked very much.

Been a Nike Air man most of my life.

We did, however, pick up a new pair of New Balance and haven't tried them out yet but they are VERY light and fit my feet perfectly.

Nike work well with my narrow feet. I have been wearing Nike for a long time.

I'm not an avid runner I just do it a little to supplement my bodybuilding. Actually its more of a brisk walk but I recommend NewBalance. I have a EE foot so they fit me nice. I actually wear cross trainers more than runners.

One of my pt jobs is at a retail store and our asics are the best for running. New balance for a walking shoe. Just a reference.

Sacony Stabil (Whatever number they are up to now) I bought 2 pair of the 5s earlier this year. I am a overpronator and need a shoe that has a lot of support. I suggest that you check and make sure the shoe is the correct one for your type of foot. Anyhow, former U.S. Navy here as well.... SKC (SW/AW) USN (Ret 07/05)

The right shoes for you depend totally on you, that said Asics are the only shoe that makes it on my feet. Do not, I repeat DO NOT go anywhere other than a specialized store for running- this excludes any store such as "Foot Locker" . You need someone that knows what to look for in your stride to properly fit you with the right shoe. Second issue is the insoles that come in even the highest end running shoes are total rubbish, I recommend some heat moldable insoles that will give your foot some proper support. Finally they are only good for a certain amount of miles, find out what is recommended for your choice and relegate them to lawn work when their time is up.

I go for Nike Shox...However, I run with heavy over pronation so for others they may be very uncomfortable.

Thanks for the recommendations! I think I am going either for the asics or the new balance! Heck, I might just buy both brands just to see which one really suits me! Like you guys said, whatever feels right!

im currently sporting a Brooks GTS8 running shoes.
went to a marathon store where they put on on a treadmill and exam the way you walk and run and then recommand a few shoes for you to try for sizing and comfort.
it can cost a little more than the usual sporting stores, but the whole experience and knowledge gained it priceless imo

It would be nice if you can go to your local running store in your area, but if not Nike Free have been a perfect shoe for me. To add I do have narrow feet so that may be a problem if your feet are wide.

Most top running store have an in-house treadmill to test out the fit another bonus of finding a running store.
