Explorer II Bracelet Question?

I've been in the market for, and have tried out the Explorer II, recently.
Is it just me, but it seems to me that the bracelet is kinda on the 'light' side
or something. I own a nice DJ with a Jubilee bracelet. That bracelet is heavy with solid clasp construction and so forth. I'm really happy with that one. I sort of expected the same with the Explorer bracelet, but it doesn't seem quite as substantial. Are the Explorer bracelets made with hollow links or what?

Any insights/feedback from The Forum would be greatly appreciated.

Your DJ has the newer updated jubilee [solid center links, hidden clasp]. The EXP II has the tried and true oyster bracelet with hollow center links and stamped clasp. Although it is lighter in weight it's bullet proof none the less. The new GMT IIc has all solid links and milled clasp and Rolex will slowly continue to update the other references in the coming years.
Imho, the classic oyster is a great bracelet that with proper cleaning and worn correctly [not loose] will last a lifetime.

Believe me after having 5 pieces (2 white+ 3 black) of EX2 in my life the EX 2 wears very, very comfortable.

I have two Rolex watches. Sub LV old sheet metal clasp hollow links

And the newer style Air-king sold (looking) bracelet

I have two sides of an argument to share.

People will argue the old school clasp and hollow links feel cheap however they have stood the test of time 50 something years and have not failed. Unless you call wear and tear resulting in that stretched LOOK and I said look people.

The other side of the story and you will quickly see this by looking around this form is that the newer redesigned bracelets look hard core solid etc.. Worth several thousand dollars etc…. however the welded part that attaches the clasp to the bracelet has failed on the GMT 2 c and I suspect others to come.

I am not in favor of one over the other. I own both. For feel on my wrist I like my Air-king (new bracelet) for long term use and tried and tested I like my Sub (old school bracelet) So you be the judge.

This guy has a good concern. Since I feel so and have noticed a few people that are currently on the form who are known to read every post and respond. I am bumbing it.

I used to own a Explorer II and have owned a few and still own a classic GMT II. Both models share the same bracelet and they are by far the most comfortable bracelets out there. I convert the lighter feel to comfort, and just because it's light, doesn't mean it's weak. You will get a lifetime of use out of the Explorer II's bracelet, don't have any hesitations, they are as tough as they come.

I have the ExpII and also the GMT's along with the new GMT2c
While the new bracelet on the gmt2c is a vast improvement over the older style, the older style is a lot more comfortable to wear.
I wear a watch 24/7 and over the long run, the older, lighter style just wears better.
The new style FEELS better. I haven't had any problems yet.
I wore the older style bracelet for staight 12 years and did EVERYTHING with it on, and it NEVER failed or even thought about it. It is still going strong.

You will not be sorry to have the EXPII.

The watch and bracelet will not let you down.

Thanks again for the feedback. I'll happily, and comfortably, wear the Explorer2 with the braclet as is, hopefully, for a long time. I know it will out last me though.
