Best position to change time on 14060ND?
I recently took my 14060ND to Tourneau to have it looked at and while waiting one of the employees gave me a tip about changing the time. She said NEVER to unscrew the crown and change the time while it was on my wrist. She also told me never to change it during certain times but for the life of me I cant remember what times she specified.
Anyone know? |

There's nothing to stop you changing the time on your watch at any point, except, perhaps, underwater. I've never heard such madness in my life

LOL @ JJ!! She was actually pretty smart... She had quite a compelling story as to why i shouldn't do it. I don't know, maybe she knows something we don't?

Maybe, not sure. One thing that comes to my mind now that i think about it... She said that on Subs their is a tube that connects the crown to a piece in the watch. If you "pop out" the crown, the force of your wrist pushing up against it bends the tube which in turn can damage it when the crown is turned.
Does that make any sense to anyone here? |

The only thing that does make sense is that it would very uncomfortable and rather awkward to try and unscrew the crown and fiddle around with it whilst the watch is still on the wrist. So much easier with the watch off the wrist!!

More Tourneau BS....
Been to their stores in Las Vegas, Atlanta, and 2 in NYC including their flagship. I have found their sales staff to be a bit...well, underwhelming to put it nicely.
The average TRF'er can, IMHO, run circles around your average sales person in any Tourneau store in regard to Rolex history, models, care and usage..not to mention kindness, consideration, and respect. Seems she is familiar with one of the oldest sales/presentation techniques: "If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bulls**t." --Paul

I'm guessing people have been setting & adjusting their watches like this for years, with little or no adverse effect.

Guys, she's actually right!
You should not wind or adjust your watch while it is on your wrist as you are MUCH more likely to put undo stress on the stem when it is in its weakest position.

and to be fair, on more than a few watches with a date it is not a good idea to change the time when the date might change-between 11 and 2 or something like that. She had the right idea, and made a minor, easy to make mistake in that she did not notice that the watch had no date (which is probably fairly uncommon on watches of this price range).
I totally buy that it is a bad idea to change the time while wearing the watch. There is not enough clearance to unscrew the crown and you would put upward stress on the stem, and might even cross thread on the way down.
