Quite a story and Q&A. SUSPECT...
Question & Answer Answered On Q: Hi. Have you verified AUTHENTICITY with either an authorized Rolex dealer or an authorized Rolex repairman?? Thanks, SE. Jan-23-10 A: they are kind of rare in Vermont. And I call one up in montreal and the guy wanted close to a 1000.00. The lady's husband did not really want did not want to talk about it too much. Give me hints of what to look for if you know and I will be happy to take pictures if I can of what you are asking. I am sorry, I'm in the car business. That is why I am selling this watch with no reserve. It does not really have any value to me. This watch was fund in a lock glove box compartment of a salvage 996 porsche. I did try to contact the owner of the car after I purchase the car, but the person seem to have died in the car accident and his wife could not tell me anything about the watch. I don't even think she new what I was talking about. Lets come back to the watch. I cannot change the time on it because the crown seems jam. The watch would need a nice polish jobs. I want to a dealer and the wanted to charge me 650 for polishing and 1200.00 for repair. I would not spend 50.00 on a watch even less 1850.00 on repairing one. The dealer also told me the watch was about 5 to 7 years old I will try to post better pictures from another camera since I am having problems doing closeup with mine. If you have any questions email me. |

...I am STILL talking with this seller...
...he seems up front.
...I have now also asked him to go to a jeweler and remove the band etc. ...here is my SECOND question: Dear the_xporter, Hi again... ...okay, take the watch to ANY jeweler. Have them REMOVE the band from the watch. ...on one end BETWEEN the lugs there will be wording and a number. On the OTHER end and BETWEEN the lugs there will also be wording and a number. ...take, up close, IN-FOCUS photo's and add them to your listing to support the sale. ...it will literally take the jeweler but 2 minutes to remove the band from the watch for you to write down the info and take a couple pic's. ...if genuine, you have a watch that should bring between $3500-$5000, in the condition it is in. ...I would be interested in knowing what you determine after you do this. Sincerely, SE. |

It must have ben a hell of a wreck! It ended up in the glove box.... Why didn't the wife get her deceased husbands jewelry back? This guy could melt the gold on it (for more than $1.00)
The watch itself needs some TLC. I'm not a pro at spotting fakes, but this looks to be real to me. I'd like to see the movement. |

Well if it's real, then it's stolen goods.
I say that the SEL are too ill fitting for the watch to be real. And I hope that people who choose to wear this Chinese garbage realize that the fake gold next to their skin is loaded with lead. |

No I guess not. It would depend on salvage laws in that state. Is the salvage yard entitled to keep anything left in the car would be the question.
But his comment was: "This watch was fund in a lock glove box compartment of a salvage 996 porsche. I did try to contact the owner of the car after I purchase the car, but the person seem to have died in the car accident and his wife could not tell me anything about the watch. I don't even think she new what I was talking about." Maybe the conversation went like this: "Hello...this is the salvage yard. We found your deceased husbands Rolex in his car's glove box...do you want it back?"...."No, you keep it."...what bunch of |

its defo a fake..
open 6 date font, bezel pearl, ill fitting insert sitting proud on the bezel- hence wear, crown is too big, end links attaching to the clasp are hollow- not solid, gold on the SEL runs out on the underside and you can clearly see the sides of the middle SEL are not gold, looking side on the crown sits too low in the case, brass showing through on the clasp..and much more! its bad.. bin it... edit: to be 100% specific.. it's a watchmaker9 "2005 2 Tone Submariner 16613" (2nd bottom from the page).. |

Here is a picture of a fake that I download from the internet. The date happens to be on 26 too with a "closed" 6. It would be interesting to known what the correct font would be for this watch....
