Sea Dweller Series A Dial Variations
Hello!
I'm looking at getting some Sea Dwellers for some heirs. In the meantime, I'll enjoy a small collection. You're all familiar with the obvious collectors items in the series. I saw some posts regarding the "A" series here. It appears that this series originated around 1999. The prior makes had a tritium source for excitation. The 1999 A series were the first (??) to have the Luminova, which required light. The tritium watches had a label to show "Swiss t < 25" to account for the less than 25 millicurie amount of tritium. The 1999 transitional watch has "Swiss" on the dial, at 6 o'clock. All the later versions have "Swiss Made". I have seen TWO VERSIONS OF THIS DIAL on this forum, and in reviews. There is a suggestion that two versions were actually made. I have no clue whether this is true or not. If it is, I have a reason to collect the two versions of the 1999 watch. I'd hate to give one heir a fake, and the other heir an original! Some might prefer to do this.... I've seen the two dial versions discussed here, and I've seen some pictures posted by Orchi. 1. An "A series" 1999 with "Swiss" on the dial. The "Swiss" truncates or cuts off three of the minute markers below it. The "ft" marker in the center area has a smaller "f". 2. An "A series" 1999 with "Swiss" on the dial. The Swiss truncated ONLY ONE of the minute markers below it, and the other two rise full height on the left and right of the "Swiss". The "ft" marker in the center has a higher "f" font which slants and rises above the "t". If they are both legit, I'd like to collect them.
