Just Bought My First Rolex - GMT II "Coke"
Hey everyone! Well, I finally pulled the trigger and purchased an "A" Serial number GMT II "Coke". I got everything you see in the pictures plus the original cardboard box. I purchased it from an individual who used to work for Ducati in Italy. It was given to him when he was over there by his boss. He only wore it about 10 times. Well apparently he needed the cash so, I ended up picking it up for $3150. I think that was a fair price! What do you all think?

I need to remove a link. Right now it has 13. Is there a thread someone can point me to that tells you how to remove the screws in the band carefully? Any tips?

What is the first number of your serial # after the A , My A8 Serial says Swiss Made on the dial. I wonder if Rolex switched it right around then or something?

Also, I found a good thread on how to take a screw/link out of the bracelet: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthrea...racelet+screws |

That's funny. Never seen a dial with Swiss made stacked on top of each other. Only seen side by side.
Or am I wrong? |

No you're not wrong. I double checked. It only states "Swiss". My bad. I believe the watch is a year 2000 model since the band has "X 11" which signifies 1999.

Glasses repair kit will do the job nicely. The links are easy to unscrew. No tutorial needed. Shake your hands for getting it in that condition for that price. Congrats!

My watch was more than likely manufactured early in 2000. The dial is correct and is original (never been serviced). |

Quick question: Which side of the watch do I remove the extra link from to get a better fit? The 6 O'clock side or the 12 O'clock side?

Thanks!
Thanks to everyone for the positive comments! It makes me feel really good about my decision to purchase this watch...and I flat out love the watch.
As far as adjusting the bracelet, I used a jewelers' screwdriver to unscrew the link bars. I had to use a hairdryer to heat the bracelet up enough to soften the loctite on the threads...but...I got them out with out buggering them up. After removing a link from the 6 o'clock side, the watch now fits perfectly! |
