What's happened to the regulars?

Hi guys,

Just noted that in recent weeks, many of the regulars have stopped posting on this forum.

For example, we hardly see the likes of C.J., Ed (Rockrolex), Allan (Prince), Paulie (mailman), Daren (dman) and quite a few others whose names don't immediately come to mind.

Come on, guys....start with the participation and let's get TRF back and thumping.....back to its old glory days!!

JJ

I've been sick the last few days. No energy to photo/transfer etc.
The new guys are picking up quite a bit of the slack

I'm posting, but not as much. I am just overwhelmed by the amount of "slack" that is being picked up, and how it is being picked up.

Well said JJ....

I am trying to filter my posts more now. Replying to my friends and interesting stuff......not the stuff that people post just for the sake of posting.

Lots of interesrting discussions lately...I think we are going in the right direction.

IMO, if TRF is to remain strong, the "old" guys must embrace the "new" guys and steer this forum to the right direction.

Excellent point you've made there, my friend!!

Read all my welcoming posts and you will see how warmly I have tried to welcome each and every newbie on this forum.

The problem is with what happens later once the newbie starts to build up a few posts under his belt.

I'm not saying all the newbies have this problem....but some do....and it's those who are starting to break up this beautiful form of ours!!

I would like that we all participate TOGETHER and as ONE!!! Then and only then will this forum start to accelerate in the right direction.

Remember guys, this is primarily a ROLEX forum so I think we should keep our focus on that brand MAINLY. Of course, other brands are welcome and some beautiful watches out there to discuss too.

So come on, guys....with our collective thoughts and minds, this forum can be brought back on track!!

Cheers all - JJ

I do agree with the statements you have made and do recognize your efforts wellcoming the new members to the forum.

Being what it is, a public forum, mostly with anonymous posters, we can not or rather, we should not expect everybody to be and act on the same wavelength. People are people and everybody has a different prospective in life, social interaction, humor, intellect, objectives, etc.

I agree that some threads and/or posts tend to be on the left field. I also agree that the established direction of the forum must be maintained. I do believe, however, that leading by example and corraling some of the threads that tend to go astray may be a more constructive way to deal with the derailment you are refering to. I am afraid that simply ignoring these threads or posts and limit one's interaction with the good "old" members may create sub-forums and polarization within TRF. Nothing good ever came out of polarization.

What initially attracted me to this forum was a google search on a Rolex related topic; what made me stay was and is the tone of civility that is displayed in most posts as well as the exhibited comradery between members.
Granted some of the "newbies" take liberties over and above what may be tolerated by the "old" guard. I would suggest to try turning them around before we abolish them. Afterall without "new" members we would not have any "old" members.

Pardon the ranting; can not fall asleep tonite.

Sometimes I have other things that consume my life like work, taking a shower, maybe getting some fresh air once in a while
