The new pearl design on the DSSD and subs...

They certainly stick out a lot more than the previous inserts. As a new DSSD owner I have to say that little pearl is a concern.

I just have these visions of knocking it against something and boom...it's gone. I would assume that Rolex has some serious design involved with making them very strong...(I HOPE)!

Am I just being overly scared? Has anyone who owns the DSSD, TT or Blue Sub experienced that little thing falling off?

I've seen those infamous pics of the cracked ceramic insert and the crazy pricing for a fix...I would hate to think about that happening to my prized DSSD.

Plus, I got my first few scratches today on my DSSD clasp...I know it's bound to happen but it's always painful to see them happen.

Worn my Deepsea everyday for a year now and believe me when I say it is more than up to the task of being your daily companion. I have accidentally knocked mine around several times and it still looks like new. Yes, you will get the slight stray scratch here and there on the bracelet, but just think of those as "character marks" in your journey through life together.

I wondered about that very thing when the watch first was released. It's a question that comes up now and again, but so far no bad experiences have been reported to my knowledge.
I've have zero problems with mine.

I initially wondered the same thing myself when I bought the Deepsea a year ago...but I've not had any problems, so I think it's fine.

Agree with the previous comments, the SDDS is by far the most robust watch I have, when wearing it whatever it knocks into is in more danger than the SDDS itself... (not that I go around bashing things with it)...

I also worried about this - still do from time to time. I think I can remember one thread about someone dropping their Deepsea and knocking the lume pip out but that's it. I can't think of a reason to make it stick out though.

well i had the bad experience .. my deepsea felll off by mistake..so it fell on its face when i heard the crack i thought the whole cermaic bezel broke off.. i looked at it the crystal of the pearl lume and it was broken.. but there is nothing wrong with the pearl lume.. so i had to use the nail polish and put some on the pearl lume.. to avoide the lume from water.. moisture... etc.. but then i get used to it and the lume is glowing perfect... but i still when i remember the incident i feel sorry....

Excuse me for bumping an older thread, but is there a good aftermarket pearl for the DSSD, in case of damage/loss?

Best bet if that were ever to happen (forbid!)...send it back to Rolex...

I'd be more worried about the pearl crushing INTO the ceramic bezel.
