Paypal Dispute/Claims

Hello Folks.

I received an e-mail today from Paypal about my funds being placed on hold for a recent transaction. I faxed them all of the shipping information, ect. They told me that this was NOT buyer initiated... so, what does that mean exactally? Paid with a stolen credit card or something? The guy told me that the transaction had been flaged as possible fraud. Has anyone gone through this before? What should I expect next?

The funds hit my account on 04/05/2010, and like I said, it wasn't untill today that the hold was placed... after the buyer received the item... after I had withdrawn the funds.

I dont know... not as of yet. This all went down and anything with my checking account takes a few days.

Buyer/Seller protection? I did confirm the address I was sending to through Paypal, not sure if that gives auto seller protection or not.

USPS shows delivery confirmation, and again, this was not buyer initiated. As far as I know, the buyer received the watch, I gave a 3 days money back, after a week, I withdrew the funds. A week and a half later... here I am.

Something really strange tho... Last Friday, I received an email about my Paypal account being suspended due to # of failed logins, assumed that someone was trying to hack my account or something. I was going to take care of that this morning when all this came about.

Log onto your paypal account now and make sure that another credit card or bank account has not been added by someone fraudulant that they could withdrawn funds from your account into. Also, what did Paypal tell you on the phone?

They checked on their end and was able to pull up the tracking info on USPS, verifing that the package was delivered. I also sent them every documentation I have minus e-mail correspondences with the buyer and photos of me dropping the box off at the post office.

My head was wheeling when I was talking to them on the phone...
I heard the words possible stolen credit card... that was it.

I just checked, nothing different, no new cards or accounts.

Paypal has some strange policies and procedures that they use to handle possible fraud or mistakes. I had a recent incident with them that was resolved within a day thanks to one of their reps who took the time on the phone to really understand the situation. I would call them back and find out what they perceive the problem is, probably as you suggested someone trying to hack your account, not the watch transaction.

I clicked on the like for the form, looked down the list to see what I needed, did not have my credit card on me, so I couldnt fill out all the fields and closed it down.

That was the only other e-mail besides the one I received this morning... I log'd into my account through the website.

Oh, I also called Paypal on my lunch to see if this, in any way, had to do with the above e-mail about the # of failed logins. The guy told me no, that this was due to recient suspicious activity on the sellers account.

Change your password IMMEDIATELY. Paypal will NEVER send you an email with a link -that was a phishing scam. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, my friend.

I assume that the seller's account is your account? I wonder what happened that they consider suspicious. The log in attempts?

On occasion, I get emails saying that my account has been suspended for what ever reason. Never ever click on the link provided in the email. I always open a new browser and type in the URL and log in. If the buyer used a stolen or fraudulent credit card, that could explain the hold on your account. Or the buyer could have filed a dispute with the transaction.

Correct. I have no clue. They told me it had nothing to do with the log in attempts. All I know is I logged in today and saw a -2900.00 balance and the dispute over the transaction initiated by Paypal directly.

Jeez, well keep us posted. Also the "CSC" is probably the 3 digit security code on the back of your credit card, or the 4 digit one on the front of an Amex. I am with Greg on the fact that the email you received was bogus. They would never ask for all of that credit card information. Although it appears unrelated, I'm sure glad you didn't fill it out.

Hi,
Sorry to hear about this problem, we had a radio presenter have this problem about 1 year ago. It was down to a stolen creditcard used by the buyer. Keep trying with paypal and good luck my friend.

The have code to make it look like it's coming from Paypal. It's a long time scam. If they (the real Payapal) haven't taken the money out of your bank account that's tied to your Paypal account, I suggest you move it to another account ASAP.

They told me that buyer used a stolen credit card. Is there anything I can do about reporting my serial number to Rolex as stolen?
