can someone tell me whether or not the GMT Master II bezel clicks when turned the same as a submariner or DSSD ?

It clicks, but not as loud as my SD.

It should click, but as Joe said, not as discernible as a Sub/SD bezel.

and each GMT reference should click differently. 1675/ 16750/16700/16710 have a lot of clicks (120?). I believe the II-c should have 24. The earlier ones (bakelites) need to be pushed down and then rotated, so I guess, no clicks.

Click is accomplished by an arc spring. If u ever replace or adjust the insert yourself, you'll see what causes the click.

Yes it does--bi-directional. The IIc is a different set up with 24 "settings".

Older acryllics used a slip ring friction fit--non clicking, but again bi-directional.

GMT's, Sub's, and SD's all use a 120 click bezel mechanism. It consists of teeth in the bezel that "click" over a spring that resembles a straighened paperclip

On the Sub and SD, the "spring" is straight and so it catches when trying to turn the bezel backwards - therefore thay are uni-directional. The GMT uses a spring with a bend (like a shepards crook) at the end, and therefore, it does not catch with rotating the bezel backwards and it then bi-directional...

As Mike pointed out.... the ceramics use a completely different, more sophisticated system of springs, ball bearings, bearing races etc...and are not related at all in the GMT to the Sub..

thanks for all the help, been asked to give a short term loan against a GMT Master II (blk/red bezel)....only had a very quick look yesterday & noticed the bezel didn't seem to click as in my Sub or DSSD, never had one before to take a close enough look at..
