Sub-C & GMT IIc

I just took delivery of the new 116610 Sub-C and wow is it awesome! The maxi-case wears great, the larger markers are easier to read, the lume is brighter, and the new clasp is so much nicer than the old one. Not much heavier than my old 16610 too. An all around improvement to the classic IMO. Here are some side by side comparisons with my 116713. Overall, the cases look to be practically identical. It looks like the bracelets might be interchangeable. I have a 7.25" wrist and it fits just right.

Excellent James,sweet watch!!

The cases do look similar don't they.....I know the caseback should be thicker but I wonder if it is infact the same case???
That could account for your V serial. Produced earlier and fitted to the Sub spec!?!?
We'll have to wait and see when a spec sheet comes out on the Subc.

Anyway,enjoy!!

Nice shots.

Question: Is the hour hand on the GMT larger than the Sub? It appears the GMT-C got the larger hour hand (which the DSSD incorporated too), yet the new Sub-C still has the same size hand as the previous iteration.

P.S. We need more shots...different angles, different settings, ect...I'm really considering picking one of these up...but need to see more. Where did you get it anyway...I figured these wouldn't start popping up for at least another 30-45 days.

What a fantastic pair, James...............well done!!

It's good to have the SS Sub-C in sheer contrast with the TT of the GMT-IIC!!

The hour hands are slightly different. The Sub-C has a slightly longer and thinner hour hand that reaches a bit closer to the markers. The cases are pretty identical in width and thickness from what I can tell without actually breaking out the calipers to measure. The Rolex boutique in SCP seems to have them on hand. I just called to see if one was available and 30 mins. later had it on my wrist.

I thought it would have a random number too, but in fact it has a V serial no. like the older models. I bet the case is from the same production run as the GMT IIc cases. That's probably how these first models got to the stores so early. That means you can theoretically get a OEM Sub-C bracelet to replace the 116710's PCL one. Hmm..now that would be neat. I should try the swap and see if it fits.

Looks great.

one comment though, the wider lugs make the braclet look like an afterthought, it's very small and thin. it doesn't flow well with the case.

it's a bit like looking at a guy with a massive gut and chicken legs - looks weird
