Is it OK to ask about specific ebay sellers on this forum?
I didn't see anything about it in the forum rules, and didn't want to cause trouble if not...
Thanks, Steve PS: I'm looking at purchasing a Rolex for my fiancé for her birthday, and was looking for an "unused" one, as I son't want to take the huge hit on buying froma B&M store. |

Excellent! So... I'm considering this watch for my wife:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...4894&rd=1&rd=1 I took a look at it in Tourneu the other day and I really liked it. Its $6900 new. This seller, u$aveontime appears to be legit with 700+ positive feedbacks and is selling it for $5500 in "unused" condition. Are there other places I should be looking, and does this seem like a reputable seller etc? I've been using eBay for years, but have never bought anything so expensive from there... |

Are there other places I should be looking, and does this seem like a reputable seller etc? I have been buying and selling on Ebay for about 7-1/2 years, His description is a little to colorful for my taste, he is trying to get you to fall in love with the watch, without making it easy to read the watch details. There are some other really good seller's of preowned Rolex's on Ebay you should check out!

I don't see a picture, but if it's a stainless steel diamond dial with jubilee bracelet, then Alan Furman has it brand new for $5120.. Take a look at the ladies datejust watches in this link: http://www.alanfurman.com/noframes/rolex1.html

Grey Market Rolex from AlanFurman
I bought a grey market watch from another very reputable dealer on ebay, here on the east coast. All Rolex's are delivered to AD's with the AD's name stamped on the papers. In my case it went through one of the largest AD's in the world the Oriental Watch Company in Hong Kong.
I was able to put my information on the paper as the first owner. One nice thing about non-USA papers is that the serial number of the watch is stamped or punched throught the certificate. What I don't understand is how I would not have a waranty. What if I had purchased the watch while on travel to Hong Kong and didn't keep the recipt? Is it just that Rolex USA does not perform waranty work on any watch purchased outside the US? Tim |

It has to be sold through an AD for you to have a waranty. And I believe the AD files the paperwork with Rolex saying when and who bought the watch. So Alan Furman cannot file the paperwork with your name, so no Rolex waranty.

Technically this watch was sold through an AD. But now I understand, now waranty card could possibly have been sent by Oriental Watch Co. for me back to Rolex. They didn't know I would end up with the watch.
So Rolex sees a lot of watches being sold with out waranty cards ever being returned for them. I figured I wouldn't have a waranty, but economically the waranty wasn't worth the money I saved plus no tax. |

Sorry no idea about that but I know one thing that even the watches from these gray market dealers have the warranty papers having the name of an authorized rolex jewele

They appear to have a different dial though... The u$save on time one does not have any markings on it between the diamonds (which I like better). Alan Furman: http://www.alanfurman.com/noframes/ro179174csddj.htm -Model 179174 -New Heavier Style Jubilee Bracelet, w/hidden clasp -Custom Silver Diamond Dial (what does "custom" mean? -Stainless Steel Case -18K White Gold Fluted Bezel u$aveontime: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...4894&rd=1&rd=1 - MODEL#179174 - White diamond dial - WHITE GOLD BEZEL - LATE "D" SERIAL# (what does this mean?) - THE LATEST STYLE SS JUBILEE BRACELET WITH SEL (Solid End-Links), AND THE JUBILEE BRACELET "HIDDEN" CLASP They appear to be the same (same model #), but just have different dials? I like the white dial better... But $355 more? |

Ah, hello, this is a mid sized watch, not a ladies watch.
And mid-sized watches are sooo easy to get at a discount.
Just my two cents. |

I was referring to the one pictured in the ebay ad. If you look at it resting in it's box, it's way too big to be a ladies model, it really looks to be a mid-sized
model to me. The ladies datejust models I've seen, are smaller. The reason the mid-sized models are easy to get at a discount is because the are not popular except in Asia. Just my three cents, I've been wrong before. |

Are midsize more expensive than ladies? The ladies I saw at Tourneu was MSRP $6900, which is what the seller claims is the MSRP of this watch. |

http://www.abouttime.com/abouttime/r...ens.invtc.html I also like the clean dial better and if your wife likes bigger watches she will love this size. I wear a mid-size YM and love the larger size. Jan |

I would ask the seller to clarify. You could also call Steve at abouttime.com if you are looking to buy grey market. I bought two Rolex's from him with complete satisfaction. If you would like more info, PM me. Jan |
