I totally agree. I am not buying it without seeing some pics.

To me:

aluminum = the feel of outring of Paul Newman Daytona
Ceramic = the feel of outring of the current SS Daytona

Aluminum ring become more and more Vintage in my mind...

X2 except I don't have an old sub but a subc and I love the bezel. I doubt it is a fragile as some people think.

Have an aluminum TT sub in black and always will; but I love the look, the color, and the feel of the ceramic. Will add a ceramic sub; as it's just a matter of time and a question of whether it will be blue or green.

Oh my god Tony!

I love the ceramic dials, but only in black. The new green and blue just seem flat to me. The new LV would have been killer if they did it with a black bezel and that cool green/gold dial...

The pics are around the internet and have been posted here and at WUS. If you really want me to I can go dig them up. Or you can go find them. But they're there. I think three in another thread.

In most of the incidents I've heard of, the ceramic bezel broke and nothing else. No trouble with the movement. No chip in the sapphire. In some cases, the owner claimed there was no hard impact at all.

The ceramic bezels break sometimes, the aluminum ones don't. But the ceramics are more resistant to cosmetic scratches and fading. Which one is more durable? It depends on weather your concerned about cosmetic or functional durability.

Personally, I bash my Rolex into lots of things, so I stick with aluminum.

I Have 3 Green and 2 Black and I was thinking to have my watchmaker place one of the green bezels on the Black Sub I'm sure it will look awesome but I haven't lost my mind YET

No, you're not the only one to not be a fan of the ceramic bezel. But you MAY be the only one who's not a fan but went ahead and got the watch anyway! What's up with that?!

Please don't, I've been trying to save my money for that Cartier we discussed. A black bezeled LV would throw a real wrench in that plan...

If you're interested in offloading it for a 1680, I'm in AU and happy to part with my Aluminium bezel ;)

I wanted a new Sub. My fiance knows Green is my favorite color and Im always yabbering about the Green Sub. So she went and bought me one.

I told her I would have probably preferred the older version. But she said that in our house.. We now have a no second hand policy. (long story)

I just have a feeling Im going to cop a bill for a Hermes birkin bag sooner or later.

I saw an LV ceramic sub tonight for the first time and I like it a lot.

The green bezel looks nice and clean and the green dial seems to change from green to black depending on the angle.

It doesn't look at all like most of the pictures. I've seen.

Tony: Your dealer must be grinning ear to ear when you walk in ;) The WG sub is on my shortlist, assuming it fits my girly wrist. I've been trying to find more of your pics featuring this model.

I was happy to hear Rolex switched to a ceramic bezel. I would assume any action that shatters ceramic wouldd leave a decent gash on Alu.

It's funny I only like the ceramic on my TT Sub C. On the SS models I prefer the alu inserts.

1 mo post to 2000!

I LOVE the ceramic.

My SS GMT-C takes a major beating and ALWAYS looks crisp due to the new ceramic bezel!

I gotta believe that what would chip a ceramic would seriously ding an aluminum insert. I have both and really like both but so far have found the ceramic to be pretty durable.

yeah, but living with a ding vs a chip or worse is one thing and the cost to replace and make whole again may be another for an owner. just saying
