More swing towards the DJs now....
Hi guys,
With the ever rising prices and the more difficult availability of the sports Rolex models, I have a strong feeling that quite a few of us will be swinging towards the DJ line-up. As you know, the DJs run the same reliable movement (calibre 3135) as the Sub-date, SD and YM (40 mm)....so wonder how many of us will not start to look in that direction? Just wondering!! JJ

The DJs are now going to be more affordable, especially the TT models. The sports models are now getting further and further away from us. Think about it. At present, only the Exp-II is still affordable. All other prices are now being held firm by the ADs....no more discounts like in the past. JJ

I've jumped in with the DateJust 16030 with the silver linen textured dial. My dad has one and I saw him wear it and it does not look small on his wrist either. He's a 6 ft tall man.
Now I can say my collection is complete - yeah right, we've all heard that before eh??

Moving from a Sport to a DJ,
rather like moving from a sports car to a sedan. Inevitable? Pas Moi!! Maybe one of the new , subtle, Yachtmasters!! |

A price increase was/is inevitable, but not by the 50% you're all trying to make it out to be.
My AD tells me that on average, prices go up by 7-10% depending on the model. I'd still expect to see discounts on all models except the new stuff coming out. Within a year, those will be discounted also. I'm not a fan of the Rolex "dress" line of watches. I'd still rather give up a few extra for a watch from their professional line rather than buying a DJ. |

I'll take my Subdate over a DJ.
I have a dress watch. When I wear my sub it's because my time is my own. It's a reminder that I may be older than I once was but I still love the outdoors, golf, and fast cars. And it's a reminder I have a few more dollars than I did in college too. The sports line screams fun whereas the DJ just reminds me of work, meetings, and to check my blackberry. |

My nest Rolex is going to be a TT DJ or TOG without a doubt. It's a timeless classic

I think you might be right about a swing to the Datejust. After all, it has 100 meter wr, can be used in dress and casual settings, is tough and durable, etc. and it has the same movement as the submariner/Sea Dweller, etc. You may be predicting the new trend.

That may be the very one, Allan Well, maybe a white dial. But, either way, they're just such classics
I did get to see the 18K yellow gold DJ on brown leather strap today. I've always admired the pictures but have never seen one in the flesh. It was the most strikingly beautiful watch I've seen in a long time. Seriously, absolutely stunning

Of course, the 18k DJ on a brown strap would be luscious as well. As I said, can't go wrong! Good luck making a decision, my friend. Such a marvelous dilemma!

She wanted one that matched mine, and for some reason, complained that she couldn't read the dial on the white one. OK... Now I'm gearing up for that Bark DD I've been hankering for! Alas, I'm with you on the "loooooooooooooooooooong time" before that happens!
