Ladies Oyster perpetual datejust

All, just finished Christmas dinner at my moms and started discussing the watch I want to get. I had no idea she had in almost perfect condition a 18k gold Datejust. She had the bezel filled with diamonds and has the receipt for the bezel work. It had the paperwork as well as the box. I took some pictures for everyone here to look at and tell me what you may think it is worth. I don't think she wants to sell it just an idea of how much it costs. All receipts are dated 1988. Also, the warranty paper is not filled out, it has the dealer name but the date of sale and purchaser are blank. Not sure if this means anything!!

Hope I can surprise her with what it is worth

Let me know your thoughts

Ash

Pictures were with my phone, sorry

Good looking watch, I like the blue dial.

I'd say at a rough estimate it might be worth with box and papers perhaps $4000.

I'd feel better about the watch if the photo didn't show a solid gold watch while the paperwork describes a steel and gold watch.

WOW, I didn't even realize that! I figured it was 18kT so it had to be something underneath! I will ask her how much she paid!! I really hope she didn't get ripped off. It was purchased from an AD. I didn't see a receipt in the box, the receipt was for the bezel work!

Thanks ED

Sooo, I called my mom to see what she paid for this at the AD. She paid $13,000

Could this be right? Did she get ripped off? What's is your opinion?

Ash

I can't tell you anything about the authenticity of the watch. I can just say what I did, that inconsistencies are a warning. Do a google search and you will see that the model number on the paperwork is a two-tone watch, which has a stainless body and a stainless bracelet with 18K gold links. It's not like the gold watch in the photo. Check eBay for an idea of current sales prices.
If she bought it new from an AD, I doubt she got ripped off. If mom has not had the watch appraised for insurance purposes, and she hasn't insured a very expensive watch, then perhaps she should.
Sorry i can't be more help.

This is crazy! First off, should I have kept the last picture to myself? Do people not share that information?
I am going to have it looked at in the next few days and let you guys know what happens!
It is a really heavy watch and I doubt the AD would rip her off, but who knows this was back in 88

Also, how did you guys find out all that information?

Thanks for the help everyone
