Hey J.J., Longines Toronto (actually Swatch Group Canada) called me today. The one below which I mailed to them last week for a service estimate turned out to be 100% original and authentic. I bought it last month from ohBoy, and was a bit concerned at to the authenticity given the painted on 5 stars and what appeared to be Chinese day fonts. My other Longines has applied stars. They verified that all parts including the dial and day wheel are original. When I get it back I'll need to shop around for an original bracelet, the watch came as shown.

Would you believe that in 1993, I did in fact buy a brand new Longines Admiral, recent model at the time and quite different from the one above. This one had a white dial, Day/Date, automatic, rotating bezel, 100 m waterproof, screwdown crown and with a superb original SS bracelet. Enjoyed that one for a few years. JJ
