Full gold sports model or ss daytona??
Hi Friends
I wanted a quick opinion or reason. Money being no issue, would you rather buy/have a full gold GMT II/Submariner/Daytona or would you rather have a stainless steel daytona? Thank you |

SS Daytona. Never been a big fan of gold*
*except for the TT Blue Sub. I'd bite the bullet on the gold to bask in the beauty of that blue. |

Gold...
I have both all gold watches and the SS Daytona. I love the weight, look, and feel of gold. The gold watches dominate my wrist. I've owned the SS Daytona for five years now, and though I love the watch, my 116528 Daytona is simply a better overall watch package IMO. The new GMT II gold with black dial is also on my wish list of watches; and I came close to buying the gold sub when I bought the 116528; but I settled on the Daytona.

Solid gold....I'd put it away until the market went up at some future date. The SS, I'd wear it 'til it fell apart.

I have never liked gold on Rolex sports watches so the choice of SS is a no brainer....tho I have to preface that after seeing the number of great photos that JJ puts up of his blue sub, I am slowly being drawn over that fence. I was actually kind of astounded how good it looked on my wrist when I tried one on and I came very close to buying one.
So who knows, I might actually go for a TT some day. But all gold is a no go for me. Kevin |

Thanks, Mike. As soon as I can get my wife fully retired, and recover from the purchase you see below, I will start planning to get one of those Bark Babies!!!

I've got to go with Otto on this one, matt dial, gold sub-dials on the Daytona is an awesome look, but my rule now is no date no watch. Nevertheless, I would go with Otto's exact Daytona, it is a beauty.

Having a white face SS Daytona .... I'd trade up in a second for a YG Submariner, black face, black bezel if I could cough up the extra dough.

There were some stunning pictures posted by Welshwatchman on this forum a couple of weeks ago of a solid gold GMT II (new style green hand).
That looked just great........depends what you want the watch to be for I suppose ? For best.....gold would be great. For anything else SS would be the way to go. |
