I boguht my first Rolex last year after I turned 27. I guess the age of purchasing your first Rolex doesn't matter much as long as you can afford it and you know how to appreciate it.

Bought my first Rolex at 18, I had a good job and low rent so buying a Rolex was not an issue. Now I still buy Rolexes one, sometimes two per year. I wish a SS DJ was still $1,500 as they were in 1989.

36, Had an aquaintance that need funds for an attorney, Gave hime 1800 for a TT blue sub, sold it several years later for 4K. Been kicking myself in the a... ever since so I bought a SS sub/date a couple of months ago to hold me over untill I get another TT Blue.

Hmnn...strange enough..I wasn't really interested in Rolex..even though I hang out with my aunt (when I was about 10 years old) who worked in an AD shop for about 20 years in Singapore till when I was about 33.

Guess I began taking note of watches when my ex-colleague showed me her crazy hours Franck Muller...and the 'fascination' begins then...

It's crazy back then to spend 5 digits on a watch as to me, a watch is just to tell time.....but now.....watches in general, does more than telling time....esp Rolex to me.....

Since then, I was diagnosed with acute "SMHRO" Syndrome (Sorry-Must-Have-Rolex-Only) with less than 1% of recovery.....

My first was a stainless datejust, white gold bezel, jubilee bracelet, in 1987 when I was 27 years old. I purchased it at my Bachelors graduation. I was in debt until another student loan helped me pay for it, for which I am still paying today... Have owned four other Rolexes since then....

Rolex Datejust as a retirement & thank you for saving my ass present.

Had to hock it 12 months later due to hard times.

Bought a pre-owned Sub 3 years further on. Traded it on a 10 month old GMT Master II. Had that for 6 months and flipped it. BIG MISTAKE.

Now buying lotto tickets. A decent win will secure the new SS GMT Master II. I will be buried with that one on my wrist

I've wanted a Rolex since I was fifteen. I picked up the desire from my older brother who wanted a submariner. I found a fondness for the GMT myself. Saved for years but the money always went to other things.

Once I was married my wife would ask me what I would like for my birthdays, anniversaries, christmas, etc, and I always gave her the same answer. After ten years and two children... still no Rolex.

Last year, for a joke, she bought me a fake Rolex and told me to shut up about the damn thing. Well, about a month after that I bought myself a real one and I still haven't told her. Now, that's my kind of joke!

She's just pleased as punch that I love my watch and that I never take off.

I bought mine at the age of 39, just a week ago! Always liked good watches but had a cartier since 1995 so didn´t think of buying a new one. Three years ago went "crazy" with the Rolex Submariner LV, but decided to buy the GMT II. And I´m very happy with my choice...

as a baby my mum and dad were amazed at how i would sit in front of a cuckoo clock for an hour hypnotised, just waiting to see the cuckoo! my first word was clock, and i used to spot clocks miles away while in my buggy/stroller pointing and shouting 'Clock!' so i guess the writing was on the wall since then... although amazingly my parents dont wear watches!
i went to get a rolex when i had a bit of money aged 18(a 16234 with salmon face and romans) but like a stupid loved up bloke that i was, i let my ex talk me into getting a gucci and saving the rest.... 'the rest' got spent on her over the next week, and i hate her for it even now!

luckily i soon met my wife, who never spent much money on anything, and thought the gucci was the most amazing thing ever, and the thought of spending 4 times that on a rolex seemed crazy to her.... i got some money again and had a big think- i decided the rolex would be a grail watch, and got her an engagement ring.... she was so touched that she went out and got me my 1953 SS-DJ with original box. i guess it worked out well for me, and it was amazing as she is so carefull with money, that the enormity of the gesture was not lost on me. and it'll stop me ever flipping this rolex, she was a bit upset when i carried on looking at new watches as she thought once i got a rolex i would stop looking, but she now accepts that we are just different animals! i now have the sseiko monster for work, the planet ocean for everyday/non work and the rolex for a dress watch.... but i have my eye on a YM!

The first Rolex I purchased was a 1680 sub date in 1975 while in the service
at age 20.
The second one purchased was in 1984 and was a 1675 GMT master.
The third was in 2005 and was a GMT2.
The fourth was in 2006 and was Sea Dweller.

All are still in my posession along with a few Omega's and a couple of other high end pieces as well

Over the past few years I got serious about buying - I've always known I've wanted one, and that I would eventually get one. In the more recent times, I started thinking to myself: If i know i'm going to buy one, buying sooner is cheaper, AND buying sooner means I get to enjoy it longer. Looking back, (being the cost has risen dramatically anyway) i wish i had bought 2 years ago when I was seriously preparing myself - instead of waiting, and doing the homework. The wait was worth it, this thing is unreal (new from ad: TT Blue Sub)

Mine was bought May 1987 for my 13th Birthday for August that year. I was there when it was bought but I was expecting a Submariner without date. I still got a surprise when it got swapped for one with a date.
