What's the need for double posting SOLD SOLD?

Isn't it enough to do it once at the bottom of the sales ad?

I like it... it shows sold on the original ad and then again so there is no confusion... Just my .02 but I think its a great idea.

I would prefer it if the sellers simply changed the title of the original post to insert [SOLD] at the front.

Would make it easier & faster to scroll through many postings

It was a question from the OP Steve not a complaint and I agree that we could save some double entries here and make easier.
We have a LOT of for watches for sale each week on the FORUM and they are selling very quickly.

Well, sorry Eddie, but it appeared a bit cheeky and I personally like the SOLD on the title, that way I don't have to keep looking at those that are no longer for sale but they appear to be. Just my personal opinion, but I like it the way it is.

P.S. Thanks for you continued updates on our friend....You are a true friend!

I agree having the sold on the title , however, why do we need to have the original sales post as well right under it??? I agree with the OP if that was he trying to say..

Probably so that there is a track record of what was sold in case there are any arguements?

It's very annoying in my opinion. If it's too much trouble for a mod/admin to change the title, then the OP can simply reply to the post with "SOLD." That's what they do in other forums.

I can see the need to be able to edit a posts' title as it could possibly save bandwidth and keep cost down as well as make things easier... but just think how that could muck up a search for a particular thread.

(sigh) I guess this has to be addressed again...

Unless the watch sells within the first hour of being posted, we cannot amend the title of the original posting to 'SOLD'

If we only update it as 'SOLD' at the bottom of the original listing, it doesn't prevent the person looking from having to scroll all the way to the bottom of the ad to see that it has, in fact, been sold.

If we only create a new post with 'SOLD' plus the item, it leaves the original post un-updated, thus when people search the classifieds, they don't know whether that item has been sold or not.

The way it is right now is the most optimal option. Only other choice would be to allow posters to amend the title outside of the original 1 hour deadline.

That's a logical explanation I was looking for.

Thanks Greg, a much better reply then saying my question was cheeky.

I guess it's for the slow guys, you have to tell twice before they get it. If you only say it once you still will get the:

What is your best price?

I think this is a pretty considerate move by the sellers since it does take them a little more effort to go about this approach. The alternative of opening every ad that looks interesting and having to scroll down all to the time just make sure you are not reading the description and looking at pics of a watch that is sold already would get old real fast.

Ideally the board will be changed to allow the OP to change the title at any time. I think that is the only solution that will please everyone.

I would rather the sellers just reply with a 'Sold' post at the bottom. The double posts just take up space on the sales board and force you to go to the next page. I'd find it less troublesome to scroll through an entire post or two than to scroll through the entire board.
