I have around $1000 to spend on a watch...

What kind of watch? A nice sport watch for the money is the Seiko Monster.

Look at Zeno, many different models to choose from. Longines Hydroconquest chrono's (7750) or Oris.

Depends on what catches your eye, you gave no clue of what you might like. Each of these examples would be within your budget.

Really does depend on what type of "look" you're after. As was said, many offerrings out there and if you want to stay within the Rolex "family", have a look see at Tudor which has a lot of designs that are similar to a Rolex counterpart and if ok with pre-loved ones, a lot of watch can be had for $1k.

mate, if I were you I would save a bit more if it's at all possible and if not I would look at a nice pre-owned Datejust or Tudor or one of the lower end Rolex. Good luck!

If you shop around a bit or get lucky at some auction you may very well pick up a Rolex airking or date in reasonable condition . Times are hard for many people and very often they let go of things way under the true commercial value .
It happened to me only a couple of years ago , when my personal live was in turmoil and went AWOL from every responsibility . I sold a 6 month old Deepsea for cash , peanuts compared what I bought it new for .
As you posted this in a Rolex forum / section I presume you are after a Rolex really .

Hi all, thanks for your opinions.

I didn't say what type I wanted because I am not sure what I am looking for and wanted to hear some opinions based solely on that price point.

I already have a Datejust, Seamaster, and a Hamilton.

I was thinking about going for another Hamilton but Ball watches have really caught my eye so I may save a bit more so I am not relegated to just the low end Ball models.

Thanks again for all your opinions. Good to see there are many options and quality watches out there.

I would save the money and figure out what watch you want first. I would rather save and wait for the watch I want rather than letting my watch fund dictate what I will buy. I find myself swapping/selling too frequently when I don't wait. Why settle when you can get exactly what you want with some patience?

You can't go wrong with an Omega if you got $1000. You'll easily pickup a quartz Seamasters or add a couple of hundred and get a reliable automatic version.

Of course I'm taking only preowned prices here.

This baby cost me $1000 a few years ago, mint condition.


You'll be able to find the newer release now for you budget. My dad bought one.


Omega Seamasters are very popular. When it comes time to upgrade, you'll get most if not all your money back without any issues (provided you bought for a reasonable price).

I just ordered a Marathon SAR and a Seiko SMN033 for under 1k total. If you enjoy dive watches can't go wrong with these.

I would look into Hamilton line-up, there are some very interesting watches in that price range.
Also, ANY Seiko 200m Diver`s watch is best buy by far, especially Monster!
