Buy Complete Watch Solely For Bracelet?
This seems like a ridiculous idea, but I can't seem to let it go and would like the insights of TRF. Please indulge me for a moment. For the past several months, I've been unsuccessully hunting for a SS Super Jubilee bracelet to place on my Pepsi GMT. I love the look and have had a couple on the hook but for various reasons couldn't real 'em in the boat. I'm now a bit frustrated with my inability to obtain a SJ and am running out of patience. Anyway, in a moment of admitted desparation, I want to explore the possibility of buying a complete BNIB watch for only the SJ and then either selling the "donor" watch sans bracelet or sending it to Rolex to have a new bracelet installed and thereafter selling the entire watch as if new (or like new).
Two questions. First, am I insane or simply showing a bit of TRF creativity? Second, if the answer to the first Q allows me to keep my dignity (or at least a portion of it), what current model has the SS Super Jubilee bracelet that I could use as a donor? Although I understand Rolex's desires for keeping a tight reign on its parts, etc., its policies are keeping me from GMT perfection! Thanks in advance. Cheers, Darin |

I think that the Datejust has had the super Jubilee for a few years now.. It seems that it would be more economical to pick up a used DJ and then use the bracelet on your GMT; then fit the DJ with a nice Hirsch strap for evenings out.........

I agree with Larry here, get a DJ with a strap and use the bracelet for the GMT. I believe DP has a jubilee on his pepsi, so he may be able to offer some insight here.

I'm in a similar situation. I want a Platinum DD, but not the bracelet.
I'm a big stealth luxe fan.

Might be worth a shot approaching your nearest RSC and asking them if they'd sell you a SJ.
(I did just that some months ago and they were prepared to let me have one - problem was it wouldn't fit my GMT II so I canned the idea). |

hi, big dilema, i do not believe that a datejust jubilee band has the same endpieces as a gmt so i do think you can utilise this option, i do not know how you can solve this problem

The bracelet bolts right on a GMT when you use the 1.8mm Datejust spring-bars... Everybody who uses one is/should be aware that there is a slight gap at the center of the case where the 36mm contour of the endlink meets the 40mm contour of the case.. Unless you look closely, it's pretty well hidden by the bezel.........
