Magnet?

This may be silly, but I just purchased a new swiss army knife (the small, keychain variety) to replace one I had confiscated by the TSA (my own fault for forgetting it's on my keys). This one, however, has a small magnetic phillips screwdriver/bottle opener tool, which will be very handy for opening beer. However, I am a little worried about the magnetic screwdriver should it come into close proximity with one of my watches (such as on a nightstand, as I empty my pockets at night and set my watch next to everything).

Does anyone think the tiny little magnet on the knife will mess with the watch?

It might do. Probably best to swap for a Milgauss to be safe!

People get so silly worried about their (built like a tank) Rolexes. The worst that could happen is your watch gets a tiny bit magnetized, which slightly effects its accuracy. Go to Radio Shack, buy a $5.00 degausser and stop worrying. The little magnet on your swiss army knife is not going to harm your Rolex.

In short I doubt such a small magnet occasionally near your watch would have any effect.

I really wanted to make a smart comment about refrigerator magnets causing havoc with my watches, but I will be gentle.

I'm pretty sure it will take a lot more than a magnetized miniature screwdriver to harm your watch.
