Here's a side by side pic of a Sub and the 36mm Exp I, my gf's watch. It looks big on her, but she has really tiny wrists:

Great picture...I would definitely go for an Explorer I if I already didn't have the Railmaster. They are just too similar in my eyes.

My father bought his t-bird in about 1958 and used it daily. I inherited it and still wear it along with my '73 GMT and, now, some others. DJ's and TOG's are tough enough for just about anything you might do, except scuba. For $4,000 or less, you can get one in very good condition. If the Sub's, GMT's and ExpII's aren't your cup of tea, DJ's and TOG's are great and come in a large assortment of options.

Another nice thing about DJ's is the huge number on the pre-owned market.

pay an AD a visit and try on a few to see what works for you...

Thanks for all the feedback. I think I have narrowed it down to a Datejust model. Just need to figure out a dial/case combo that I like.

Does anyone know of a good AD in either NYC or Maryland? (Tourneau and Wempe in NY don't count :-))

I prefere the ExpII for feel and looks. Well within your budget. Mine gets 80% of my wrist time.

Welcome to the forum. Make sure you try on the Datejust before buying- I feel like you may want a 40mm watch (Submariner, GMT II, or Explorer II) as the Tissot PRC200 has some good size to it. You'll never know which best suits you till you try them all on. Whichever Rolex you choose, you'll be buying a great timepiece.
