If you ask me then, the 16622 is very-over priced, it's basically a SS watch with some platinum shavings running about. I'd rather buy a SS Daytona for the money

trouble is you won't easily find a SS Daytona at list and the SS?YM can be had with a reasonable discount...

I agree it's a quite a pricey model.. but I love mine.

yeah...for platinum bezel and dial i do think they are a lil expensive in comparison to other sport models... but i still love mine very much

you have to consider that, it is priced as much/more than other tt models. And the return for material you get on this model is unjustifiable. I love looking at it, i was seriously considering it as my next rolex. But when i found out the bracelet is made of steel my plans flew out of the window

the 16613 has a better return since it is less expensive than the yachtmaster.

The 16622 is really not worth the money, i'd rather go all SS

Isn't the PL DD a solid platinum watch?
I tried on the solid PL Master DD...weighs a ton!
Gotta love the way that weight makes you feel.
One thing I do love about platinum is that it's much denser than gold or steel.
Won't chip or flake away any material if you happen to bang it. Just working that working platinum is more difficult...and along with the raw material being more rare...the price is substancially higher.

the cheapest way to buy a rolex is by far all the ss one..... as soon as you go TT or platinum bezel and dial like ym or even solid gold or solid platinum, prices soar to the top ..... many times the SS models.
having said that, the movements in these solid gold platinum models are more or less the same as the SS ones.

so if you want the best bang for your buck then definitely the all SS models are the way to go.

if you are going to weigh up the cost with how much gold / platinum on rolex watches, you will never be able to justify the extra price.

and im guessing probably most people who are looking for watches with precious metal on them don't really care too much about how much weight of plat/gold on their watches....if they like it...they probably going to get it

i can only imagine going to rolex and ask " how many grams of gold / plat on this day date?"

anyway..... enuff rambling for me ....

I agree with Supermarz. Going with precious metals in a Rolex will never justify the price difference between SS. $500 of gold doesn't justify a $2,500 markup does it?

Then again, does $300 (or less) worth of raw materials in a SS watch justify a $5,500 price tag? Perhaps not. But this isn't why we buy Rolexes right?
