New Rolex Owner - Oyster Perpetual (im a bit worried)
Hi, yesterday i bought my first Rolex. It's an Oyster Perpetual in steel with black dial and easylink bracelet.
I love it, but i'm a bit worried because i cant find it in official site (rolex.com). In a few hours, i will post here some photos.. Its very similar to this one, but with easylink bracelet and the all the letters in white: And i'm a bit worried too, because i think my easylink dont work (dont have the link with the "U") ;( thanks |

no need to worry. not all the rolex watch options are listed on the rolex website.
for complete dial brochure, i normally go to www.oysterworld.de look under "dial and bracelets" tab. hope you find answer there. |

The Oyster Perpetual doesn't have the Easylink, although it does have the updated clasp. The Rolex website has never listed all the different variants - it would be impossible, as for some models, there are hundreds of possible combinations. Enjoy the watch, it's a sharp looking piece

I think something looks fishy here, someone will chirp up in a bit for a definitive answer,
I have a DJ, and the Rolex, geneve etc are engraved, not in black? |

It is my understanding (and I may be wrong) that only precious metals and two-tones have a stamped/engraved bracelet. |

The clasp on my wifes oyster bracelet on her DJ look exactly like the one the OP posted but the writing is also engraved. My Daytona clasp has black etching

Nothing wrong with that watch at all, looks spot on! If you notice in the manual, the page referring to the Easylink is for the Oyster Perpetual Date

My super jubilee bracelet, engraved, no colour.
Obviously a different bracelet, just thought the markings would look the same. |

One question: The rolex watches with DATE number, know which months have 31 and 30 days? or you have to correct the DATE number after each month with 30 and 28/29 days? And thank you all for the answers :) |

You have to correct it. Only perpetual calendar watches (which only ultra high end brands make) can have this function. You could probably buy several Rolexes for the price of one mechanical perpetual calendar watch

I saw in Google, cheap brands like citizen with perpetual calendar.. Btw, the energy generated in my rolex its automatic or i have to "move" myself? If the watch stays "stationary" for 1 year, it continues working and with energy? This might sound a stupid question, sry |

As for your Rolex, energy is stored in a spring, which is would by a rotor on the movement. That spins when you move your wrist, and puts tension in the main spring. The cal. 3130 (the movement your watch has) has a power reserve of approximately 48 hours (so, when fully wound, the watch will keep going for about two days off the wrist). You should also manual wind the watch periodically to make sure the power reserve is at its top end, which maximises the accuracy of the watch. To manual wind, unscrew the crown until it pops out and wind it clockwise - 40 turns should give you a full power reserve I hope this answers your questions! Chris |

That's a darn nice looking OP. Good pick up. Rolex can't put all the different dial variations on its website, simply too many.

You can shake to wind the watch too, but I find it's much quicker and more efficient to use the crown for winding. In addition, to keep your power reserve topped up when on the wrist, you should be wearing your watch for at least 8-10 hours a day As for the individual calibres for Rolex, the reference library here on TRF is a great start. As a general overview, most are variants on the cal. 3135 (basic date movement). The cal. 3130 has the date function removed, whilst the cal. 3155 has the addition of a day function. More specialist movements include the 3186 (found in the GMT IIc and Explorer II), the cal. 4130 (Rolex's in-house chronograph movement, found in the Daytona) and the cal. 4160 (a really clever piece of engineering with a programmable mechanical regatta countdown, found in the Yacht-Master II). As for other brands, watch fora are always a good start, others have good information supplied from the manufacturer (like Omega, for example), and there are one or two sites that have a lot of technical information too. I'm sure you'll be an expert in no time Cheers, Chris |

It is good to go until the year 2500. And all fully automatic. |
