Re-Dialed 1601 Question

The first Rolex I bought was a '67 refinished dial 1601. The watch has only been worn a few times, but now I'm considering doing something with it. The case and movement are in pretty good shape, and I already have a jubilee. I'd like to replace the dial, but I'm looking for some advice.

1. Should I send it to RSC and have them replace the dial with an original
Service dial? Does anyone know if they could do this, and what an
estimate of the cost may be?

2. Source a used dial and have someone put it on?

I'm thinking if I could have RSC do it, then I know I have an authentic dial
with paperwork.

Thoughts?

The RSC will not accept any watch for servicing over 30 years old. You should try to source an original dial, maybe send the watch to Bob Ridley (Watchmakers International) to have the dial fitted and (or) have the watch serviced.

I doubt that Rolex would still have a dial. I'm assuming this is a pie pan dial, and they come up for sale occasionally. A good watch guy might be able to source the correct dial. I would expect to pay well under $300 for a used dial, uninstalled.

You have a 1601 Pie Pan dial, it is not hard to source a used one that has not been touched. That way you can get what you want for a dial.

Thanks for all the advice! I already have one sourced, so it looks like I will go that route
