I prefer the one by your left shoulder.
Like you, I have been confused as to why there has never been a "date" function on a Daytona. There is a pretty good alternative...a Tudor Chronograph. Get the pre-Tiger Woods model and it'll have a normal Oyster bracelet, chronograph functions AND the date. Since both the Tudor and the Daytona (until recently) used movements supplied by an outside supplier, I never understood why the "cheaper brand" would have the date and the "more expensive brand" NOT have the date. Also, the Tudor was an automatic long before the Daytona. God willing, my next Rolex will be a TT Blue Sub. Rawhyde |

It's hard for us stateside boys to get our hands on Tudors. They're going away in the UK, as well.

It is all subjective anyway. Many people think of the Daytona as a grail watch and happily pay a premium in order to have one and it is not a watch that has ever appealed to me at all. Doesn't make it bad or good. What one person likes or prefers shouldn't have an effect on anyone else. Unless you need validation of your choice to be happy with it. That said, there is no "best" Rolex. |

SD, but oh how it would be so nice with a MAXI DIAL without the ceramic bezel. What would ceramic do at 4000 ft? yes you have it CRACK so I guess some Rolex watches will be staying the same.....

I'd like to see any of the non-seadweller watches cope with 120bar of pressure!
Therefore 'the best rolex' is a far too broad a question to have a poll on. |

I don't think that your vote can be withdrawn once you have voted. There are several other models that I could have included if I was not limited to 10 choices and the Yachtmaster l , The Masterpiece, along with others would have definitely been included. For example I had to group all subs together and I had to group all Cellini's together as well unfortunately.

I thought the Sea Dweller would be a close rival after the Sub due to their similar looks. But look at the poll result.

nothing can be compared to the GMT master . It is the ultimate tool watch and the most practical. Most of the people nowadays travel quite a lot and it is an essential tool for them as they have two different time zones on their watch. The sub and the sea dweller are good but most of the owners that have subs don't use the watch the way it was meant to be used and i am talking about scuba diving

I'm surpised that the Daytona is so far behind in the polls. I thought that for sure it would beat out the GMT. I'm also similarly surprised that the non-sport models are doing so poorly in the polls.

very observant
I am very impressed with your knowledge, from about as far away from Miami as you can get in these here United States. Udonis is my favorite player ! And those are part of the NBA's favorite dance team for 2 years running "THE MIAMI HEAT DANCERS'' We are fortunate enough to be able to attend many pro sporting events here in Miami. What kind of recreation do you enjoy? Oh and by the way thats an EXTRA SLIM XL that I am wearing.

Well after 2 days of inactivity I guess this poll is over, after 49 replies, well over a thousand views, and over 140 votes - the people have spoken - The Submariner is the overwhelming Favorite followed in distant second place by the GMT, and third place belongs to the Daytona. Thank you all for helping me learn a little bit about your opinoins and tastes. They are quite similar to my own, ironically I own the top three most popular watches according to the poll. Thats because they appealed to me the most. I wonder if Rolex has sales figures that would be congruent to our poll. Once again thank you all !!

The Submariner is the classic cornerstone of the sports collection. It is iconic and known throughout the whole world. We all want a bit of James Bond to go with us I think. I can understand why it is so popular.

The reason there is no date in my view is (1) it would make the watch too busy. There is already a lot going on there; (2) to give it a date makes it less likely that a buyer will buy another Rollie with a date.
Rolex is very smart about keeping its "niches" separate to create separate brand needs. To mix them would dilute the mini market power each individual "mini" brand has. That is why you will NEVER see features of a GMT mixed with that of a SUB....for example you will never see a GMT dive as deep as a SUB. That would dilute the SUB's mini brand power. Likewise, you will never see GMT features on a SUB or a date on a Milgauss. Rolex keeps it pure and creates iconic desire for each mini brand, creating the false need in the consumer with cash to burn that several watches are needed to cover the spectrum. Smart. |

SS Sub Date!
Now, that comes as a surprise, eh? Why did none others think of that! Besides that, I do not think the "best" Rolex can be picked out. ALL Rolex watches are "the best" in their own right! That depends on what you are looking for. It is all a matter of personal preference
