Need Advice ASAP

Found a woman on craigslist selling a daytime at an unreal price. Says it is her ex husbands and she wants to get rid of it. I am very skeptical that it's real, but I want to go look at it. I have her sending me pics so I will post them here when she sends them. Can you guys give me Amy advice as to what I should look for to make sure it's real? She says the crown is loose but the AD says it's no problem and would only be a couple hundred dollars to fix. It's a long drive to where this person lives, but if this is real it's worth it. Thanks guys!!!

I don't know. If its too good to be true.... then it is likely NOT TRUE! I would be very careful when going there.... bring some friends also. I have heard some horror stories.
Personally, I would stay far far away and walk away.
Look on the Sales section instead......
Just me 2 cents

I have never heard of that model.

I see some red flags... craigslist! ex husband! crown loose!
Please be careful not to end up with a fake or stolen watch.
I would not buy a Rolex on craigslist without meeting the buyer
at AD of my choice.
It's difficult to identify the authenticity of the watch only by
looking at photos.

Any ad could...whether they want to for a non customer is another thing.

Please be careful. A fake watch could be the least of your worries answering an ad like this!

Don't do it unless she is willing to meet at an AD who is willing to authenicate the watch. This way the meeting place is a public place also. Might as well have them give it a once over, sounds as though it may need a service so this would give them time to check into this as well. This probably will need to be factored into the price as well.

Still see Red Flags however. Not sure this is the best way to by a Rolex. I wouldn't want to do it this way. I wonder if the thing might not be stolen. Bad vibes all around.

If the story is true, I would want legal proof that she has the right to sell it. I find it hard to believe that he left it behind on purpose or that she won it as part of her share of the assets.

I should make clear that I will only meet at an AD, I absolutely would not go to some idiots house with cash.

All good advice. I have bought and sold on craigslist. Only meet at a public place and make an appointment with the nearest Rolex AD to have authenticated. The small price you will pay will be worth it. The comment on the right to sell is a very good one. Be careful. Good luck !!

I've bought a few rolex watches on CL, But they were all priced accordingly/reasonable.
I ask a lot of questions before I even meet up with the seller. But with stories like, "I got it from an estate sale, or It's from my ex, or I have a rich grandfather and he passed away etc..." they're normally fakes. I'm gonna say it again.....if it's too good to be true, then it probably is.

Sounds fishy to me. If she "just wants to get rid of it" and took the time to go to the AD why wouldn't she "just get rid of it" there?

Usually not very difficult to get "rid" of a Rolex, daytona the less...

If it is her ex husbands why doesn't he want it back? Why doesn't he have it on his wrist?

I am selling my ex-husbands rolex without him knowing means it is stolen.

Authenticate. And if it seems to good to be true it's probably not good. But I've heard of some folks getting deals. Have her send you plenty of pics But I agree it does sound like an odd story. Just keep your wits about you and authenticate.

If it was real and she just wanted to " get rid of it" I am sure she must have friends and family members she could give it to or sell to at a ridiculously low price.

Beware!

Getting in the middle of a custody battle of a high end item can be a nightmare. If it is a court ordered sale there will be documentation. It would have been appraised and a sale price agreed upon by both parties. If it was with a bunch of stuff an Ex left behind you know some one will be looking for it and probably report it stolen.

First...make shure that she is the owner of the watch, and can sell it. Then ask her if you can meet with her at a local AD to authenticate the watch, and give you a quote for the repairs that it needs. If she is unwilling...I would run from that deal.
