Did I purchase well for my dj turn-o-graph?

hi folks, i'm new here, bought my first rolex yesterday datejust turn-o-graph (brand new) at an authorized dealer and a little worried since:

1. there weren't any protective stickers on the sides (I overlooked this)
2. i found that the M serial dates back to 2007
3. i cannot find any info on the clasp code which reads 6NH.

Should I be worried that I bought a rolex (3-4 years old). I'm a little paranoid, but nevertheless I am happy with my purchase. Spent my hard-earned money for something that I have been wanting all these years. Thanks for all your input!

6NH on the clasp is the new random id. It means that bracelet was build between H2-2010 and now.

M serie for the watch would mean it's a 2007 model. Very strange with this clasp.

Did the s/n contains 7 or 8 characters (randoms have 8, so your "M" could be a random beginning with an M) ?

It's not a big deal if the watch stayed for about 3 years before being sold. It's frequent to have this situation. Especially for the TOG which isn't so desired by Rolex afficionados ...
An AD in Paris actually (try to) sells a YG DJ "F" serie (corresponding to 2004).

My TOG is a Z serie and works fine, so don't worry about that, an M serie will work fine too.

But you should ask your AD why he changed (if he did) the bracelet .

I am sure you bought the real deal from an AD.

The M-series is just an indicator of when the case was cast (the serial number is for the case, not the movement).

The Bracelet code is once of the newer random codes.

I would have expected a fully stickered and untouched watch from an AD.

You may have bought a watch they have had in the window for some time (that would explain the delivery stickers being removed)

But - if you like it ... then Congratulations and please pose some pictures.

Incidentally, I would have haggled for some discount if the watch was not handed over exactly like it was receievd from Rolex with every sticker in place.

May be worth inspecting the bracelet ends to see if the AD really carefully fitted the bracelet.

The age doesnt matter - if you tracked down the serial number of the actual movement (Cal 3135) it would probably be even older.

If it helps: - I recently bought a 22 year old Submariner Date and it came fresh from a full Rolex Service (new crystal, movement overhaul etc...) The watch came back as new as it was in 1989 - perfect timing and everything. So age doesnt really matter for Rolex's

Congrats! I recently bought a 2006 TOG (see avatar)...as noted above, TOG tend to move slower than the "classic" models. I personally like TOG because my wrist is not big enough for the sports watches...and i want something sportier, younger, and more unique than a normal Datejust. TOG is perfect for me.

If you bought from AD, then it is legit. As for the stickers, most of the time around here, the side protective stickers are off, esp. ones that are rotated to be displayed in the store windows. Again, i would not even care about those stickers AS LONG AS your watch does not have any scratches before you bought it. If no scratches, then i don't care about stickers.

And remember, in 5 years or so, when you get your watch service by Rolex, it will look brand new again. (Rolex service center does a superb job at making your watch new again!)

Enjoy your watch...and have a good weekend with your new baby!

A very nice watch. Mine have a black dial and a jubilee bracelet.

You have stickers on your bracelet , don't you see them ?

just a newbie question, does rolex put a mark on the watch if it has been serviced or not? I've read that bracelets with an 's' means they have been serviced. I am wondering maybe the AD changed my bracelet so that I woulnd't know if it was serviced before or not? getting paranoid again here... as i've states earlier my clasp code seems circa 2010 and later but the watch has an m serial, thus i think the discrepancy in years.

Relax. You've got a great watch that will last you for the next 50 years. The serial number refers to the case and not the watch. If Rolex made a big run of DJ cases and put them on the shelf, they may not have pulled yours off the shelf for some time.

Congrats on the TOG! Bought my tt T-bird in 1991 (could've been made inmid to late 80s) and it is as accurate today as it was when bought brand new.

A watch maker / RSC may put handwritten date etc, on the inside of a caseback when serviced. Never heard of a bracelet being "serviced."

Your watch is a slow mover...so it is quite possible it sat in the ADs case for a while.

Enjoy.

In France we say "la nuit porte conseil" (google translation is your friend).

It seems it wasn't the case for you.

Probably this TOG was used by this AD for demonstration to other potential buyers, and maybe a scracth was done to the bracelet at this occasion.
AD then preferred to put a brand new bracelet on it to sell a perfect one.

No issue at all , as previously said in 50 years time you won't even think about that.

11h30pm here, time for me to go to bed ...

TOG are slow sellers. The case sat at Rolex for a few years before being fitted with a movement and a random # bracelet.

Relax and enjoy!
