Bogus email?

Received this email in response to my listing in the FS section. I have not responded to this individual yet. Just looking for some friendly TRF advice.

Hello, Joshua!

I found your post on TRF, but couldn't register to contact you through PM and to see the pics.
I'm interested in the watch, and was wondering, if you could send me the pictures.
And also, if i would be interested in the watch, could you ship it to Moscow, Russia!

I do have references on tz-uk and wus, both on decent priced watches (around 1k$). Everything went fine.

Looking forward to your answer.

BR

Max

I don't see why this guy can't register?

It's easy...and the only reasons to stop it would be email address issues/maybe previously banned etc.

I'd ask him to explain why he can't register on TRF.

Otherwise I'd walk away.

I'm so ultra paranoid these days I would just wait until a more established buyer came around.

I'm sure the guy is fine, but, why not sign up? Why not share the usernames on the other sites?

Maybe he's truly an established member on those sites (and you can pm him there)... But! References don't mean anything if they are fake!

Russia?? Pass, but, again, I'm always assuming I'm being scammed (I constantly am thinking "how am I being scams right now" when I'm doing a transaction).

Again, I'm paranoid.. This guy may be just fine..

Just like when buying a watch. You have to be comfortable with the seller.

Registering is simple... Ignore the email. Better yet, delete it.

Since you've openly posted your email in the advert then you can expect solicitations from everywhere and for anything.

The bullshit reason not to register here is enough to tell you to run from this character, not to state that being a member here means anything in itself.

A pledge member would at least have a Paypal trail from their donation though this could also be a bogus account.

Bottom line, be extremely careful and then some.

Thanks all. I replied to him via email and he stated that his email was banned from here and that he had contacted a mod to sort it out. BOGUS!!

As advised above, stay away from this one Josh....

As I have mentioned before, personal email and phone numbers posted in WTB (or even FS listings), should only be posted after initial contact via the TRF PM message system.
You are opening yourself to high exposure of fly by night scammers by posting this info in the open!
Always be vigilant, and if it sounds off, it usually is!

I'd pass - no registration and I wouldn't consider shipping to Russia.
