Can anyone tell me what shape this diamond is?
Hello friends I have here a very strange diamond. The inside of the ring is stamped D'vach and 1.07 also which must be the size of the center stone. The mounting is 18kt.
It is a very nice stone with very few small inclusions under magnification. For sure a diamond after multiple test. Any how any thoughts on this? The top of the diamond is checkerboard and the bottom looks flat for the most part. What is the name of this Cut. I have searched and looked to no avail. |

Google "heart cut diamond" and see if the images match...
That's what it looks like to me.

Looks like my grandmothers ring. She called it a pear shape.

It's not a traditional pear shaped diamond, it is pear shaped but seems to be cut like a rose cut diamond.
It looks like this. (Not my picture) |

TearDrop Cut. Checkout the base of the ring. Its also shaped like a drop.
"Pear This brilliant-cut diamond is also called a teardrop for its single point and rounded end. The unique look of the pear shape helps make it a popular choice for a variety of diamond jewellery. If you choose an elongated pear shape, the length of the diamond creates a subtle slimming effect on the fingers. To understand what the diamond will look like when viewing it from above, look for the length-to-width ratio on each diamond's detail page. For the most traditional pear-shaped diamond, look for a length-to-width ratio between 1.45 and 1.75." |

I just googled "triangle shaped diamond" and got lots of images that look like yours. I don't know if has any other name, but that seems to fit.

What's strange is the stone's orientation on the ring. Typically you would see it with the "pointy" end of the teardrop (mount) perpendicular to the ring (either pointing up or down the finger). This one appears to have the setting parellel to the ring, giving it an asymetrical look IMO.

Guys I have hundreds of trillions, pears, Ect, here in front of me. This is nothing like that. I have removed the stone from the mounting and will post pics within the hour. It is for sure supposed to be mounted facets up because it just "windows" from the flat side. |

Guys I just want to say thanks for your responses and input. I just can't say here's a 1.05 ct vvs1 diamond that is kind of like a heart but kind of like a pear but kind of like the Superman symbol. You know what I mean?

Yes one large facet. If you know Gem terms, the stone windows from the flat side. Meaning that there is not much refraction, You can see right through. At first I thought maybe the stone was just upside down but it is for sure supposed to be mounted multi faceted side up as there isn't much refraction from the flat side.

I think you'll just have to settle for "fancy cut" looks like it was cut for weight and not brilliance. I see stones like this from India occasionally.
