Tiger Woods still slumping

Any golf fans out there?

This is Tiger's first tourney in 7 weeks and he didn't have a very good round. I don't know if it's rust or he may never regain his once beautiful game.

Tiger is reminding me a lot of David Duval, who once was a great golfer but he lost it mentally. I see Tiger going this path but I would like to see him overcome it and dominate.

He shot a 2 over 73 at the Frys.com Open

It's got to be mental. He somehow needs to get past all this drama and back to playing the game well.

He's always messing with his swing.

I think he needs to play more tournaments, rather than his once a month tournament that he use to do because he was good.

He needs to enter more tournaments. I think that is his problem. Before the injury, Tiger was picking and choosing to play in the biggest pay-out tournaments.

To get back to top form, he needs to play more often. Regardless of the payout.

Lets set this straight. Not every thread about Tiger Woods needs to be closed down. The reasons others were was not due to the context or subject. Rather it was due to some members inability to abide by the very clear forum rules. They end up being disrespectful and rude to others which this site will not allow. Debate is healthy. But only if you enter it being open and respectful when making your points. Something TRF insists on. If not you are simply there to prove others wrong and yourself right. That's an argument and it has nowhere to go.....hence closed threads.

Let's keep this in mind here. Thanks.

Jolly! That post explains it all! You guys should take a look at it.

This being said, I'm unfortunately not a golf expert but as mentioned before the scandals he's been trough probably didn't help his playing...let's hope for his fans he'll be able to recover.

I think Tiger should of just taken the rest of the year off ,and started fresh for next year, if he fails to make the cut in this 2nd rate tourney he will look even worse than he already does.

He just needs to wear his Rolex when he plays ;p

According to the press release, he doesn't....maybe he should try :)

On serious note, I am a fan of the guy (personal life aside), but I think his struggle (just a little...not as much as this) may be good for the game...

I think I will be bored if he is dominating the game the same way he did in the past.

I watched his round yesterday and he is very inconsistent, not the Tiger Woods of two years ago. It must have been particularly humbling being outplayed by a 19 year old amateur phenom, which he once was.

As a golf fan I enjoyed the past year because with Tiger out of the picture the network's coverage of events included all the other players. In Tiger's hayday the network's would rather show him changing his shoes in the parking lot that covering whoever was actually in contention. That was not Tiger's fault though.

I could not care less if Tiger wares Rolex or not.

But I do think Rolex could have used that money better by sponsoring a sporting event instead of paying a celebrity to ware there watches.

But that is just me.

Tiger's swing is still a work in progress. Golf Channel had a good split screen analysis of what his swing looked like in 2000 (when he was playing arguably the greatest stretch of golf ever), what it looked like in 2009 when he last won, and yesterday. It's definitely different, and what was most striking is how much his noggin moves during the course of his current swing as compared to prior years. Anyone who plays golf much knows that excessive motion is anathema to a consistent swing.

Considering he putted horribly yesterday and his short game was wildly inconsistent, Tiger actually is getting closer to playing like the Tiger that could still grind out an OK to decent score even when his game was noticeably off. His score should've been more like even par or even 1 under if he makes a few short putts that any pro golfer should make (i.e. inside of 6 feet or less with not much break).

Now whether we'll see the dominant Tiger of old anytime soon (if ever) over the course of 4 or even 3 rounds remains to be seen.....

In defense of atiger he played a much better round today. His putting was aweful yesterday so that really cost him. His ball striking is still pretty damn good. As for Partick Cantaly he has one of the lowest stroke averages on tour this year and hasn't played but the toughest tournaments. Don't forget tiger had a great Masters this year and has been injured most of the year. We live in a society that wants results now. Football coaches are fired after half a season so don't be so quick to judge Tiger after a few rounds this year.
