That is more or less correct. Smoking (outside buildings) is strictly prohibited and is punished by one thing: the sack. Inside buildings are designated smoking areas. The tanks, however, do not contain flammable or combustible liquids. We only store the raw products (and sometimes refined products) for the food industry. Edible oils and fats. Sunflower oil, palm oil, coconut oil, etc. So I could walk outside, light one of my favourite stogies and nothing would happen. You would need a flamethrower to start a fire. But we do have licence to handle gasoline and other volatile products so no smoking. It’s all for the better.
So if I ever win the Dutch State Lottery ($20 million main prize, tax free) I have devised the following cunning plan. In order to get rid of my 2 months notice, I’ll light me a Private Stock No. 1 and step outside the building. That’ll fix it!

Frans, I worked at Felixstowe and Ipswich docks for two years.....really dangerous places.
Seemed like I spent most of my time trying to avoid getting run over by the dock tugs or squished by a container. Norfolkline (as per your picture) used to sail in to us. |

This is caused by the tide and the constant movement of ships. Their propellors work up sediment and that is what you see. Actually, the water quality has been much improved the last 20 years. No more bunker oil floating about and ships that dare to dump waste are very heavily fined or even confiscated. There's 24/7 monitoring by harbour patrol ships.

«($20 million main prize, tax free)»
If it were taxed you'd get $1.56, right? |
