Mid 1980's Sub original cost & current value..

I was wondering if anyone knew the price of a submariner in the mid 1980s'? Back then I received this Tag as a gift, purchased new. I think the cost of this Tag was 1,000 dollars.

The reason I ask is that the Tag is now worth, well, not very much, maybe $200 dollars. How much would a mid 80s Sub be worth today... I am guessing slightly more than $200 dollars...

A mid-80's Sub would have been about 1,000 bucks as well back then..

Today the 16800 Sub (Mid-80's) will run from 3,200 to 4,500, depending on condition..

Then I did pretty good with my purchase. I think the $100 dollar bills in hand helped the negotiation....
