Well R serial dates back around 1988 thats when the 16610 and cal 3135 movement was first introduced one sold recently on TRF for $3250.

And I assume R series would be the same as let's say a U series? (thinner case and with the hole)

My R series has lug holes. The case is the same thickness for all 16610. Mine also has open 6 datewheel and non SEL bracelet. It has tritium lume.
