Justification Nudge

I know we don't need any reason to justify getting our Rolies, but I was thinking of a post I read here recently, and it does come to mind when I am getting a watch. I don't wear jewelry, and recall the costs of wedding rings and their upgrades. Heck, a girl can wear 30K of diamonds on her and not really be too extravagent if she has a nice 2 carat rock, some earings and a necklace.

When you put it in perspective, we are just seeking some parity with many of the ladies out there. 3 sports Rollers are the cost of one nice diamond ring, and not even a deluxe diamond ring frankly but a very nice one.

So, think about that when you are suffering over whether to spend 6K on your modest wrist.

The ONLY "jewellery" for me is my Rolex. PERIOD!

So you see, you never need to feel guilty about your modest purchases in this regard. Compared to many women, we are pikers. Especially when you add her Rolex to her collection. Do the math on a mature diamond marriage ring, some nice diamond studs, and her necklace and tennis bracelet....standards for a successful woman in a marriage of some means.....and you are modest indeed with your Rolie or two....

No need to justify. Someone posted a while back this: Unless you are super rich there are few things in life one can aquire that is made to the highest standards. Very few of us will be able to buy the brand new Rolls or buy a custom made yacht, but we can afford a 6 or 10K watch! So enjoy one of the finest products known to man!!

Exactly...with hard work you can have a Rolie, and not feel guilty. I have a million ways to justify mine. I can say it is a "prop" as a trial lawyer. I tried that excuse a few times....I know that is BS though. But the comparison to a woman's jewelry box in not so bad.

Yep! Bought my RG DJ and the wife's at the same time. This was about 30 days after buying my YG DJ.

Here's how I justify buying a Rolex: I give my wife lots of jewelry and never nag her about how much she spends on clothes and shoes.

l think buying a Rolex is a very personal thing. Its a matter of personal choice. I respect those who have many and those that don't have any at all.
I do like mine and I don't feel guilty at all. My reasons for owning a Rolex may not be valid to many but I'm not asking anyone to pay for them.

I did not have to justify my new GMT, as my fiance' bought it for me as an engagement gift. She got the $20,000 ring, and she had no problem or issue buying me the Rolex.

She does not have to justify her ring, so why should I justify my watch?

I know and see lots of people who own Rolexs and never think anything about it, as far as how and why they arrived at owning this beautiful timepiece.

Perhaps they received it as a gift from a spouse, maybe their wealthy, won the lottery, inherited it, it could be a fake, they could have stole it, maybe it is a corporate gift or recognition for sales achievement or tenure, maybe their in the military and have no living expenses and want the only thing that can be personal to them in combat, perhaps it was a gift from wealthy parents or relatives, maybe you worked hard and sacrificed for it, maybe your leveraged beyond reason and have no logical reason to buy or own one. The list goes on and on.....

That fact is that there are many reasons for a Rolex to end up on ours or anybody else's wrist.

And there are many reasons people make comments (positive and negative) about our Rolexs.

It will drive you crazy to think about too much. Just enjoy it.

My wife and I were over at a friends house (that has a sub) when we got engaged several years ago and he saw her 2ct. Gabby solitaire and said "so girl you know you at least have to get him a Rolex now".

She replied "Ive already been thinking about it" - we ended up getting each other our Rolexes as our wedding 'gifts' to each other but it was sort of not planned. She got mine without me knowing it and when I gave hers to her a month before the wedding she said "well I guess we can go get yours out of the safe at the jewelers".

Our wedding date is in next April and the Rolex was supposed to be a wedding gift, but it has been driving me crazy ever since she agreed to buy me one. Being the fantastic girl that she is, she went ahead and got for me now, kinda like a combined engagement/wedding gift.

Most here know my story, but it goes like this. When we were shopping for enagagement rings; I made the off-handed comment that if I had buy her an engagement ring, then I wanted a Rolex. To my surprise, she said sure.

And here I am, sporting my new ceramic SS GMT II.

I am, and I'm sure you are as well, a very lucky man.
